I just finished up the the first of our team xc builds for aught nine

Big thanks to Chris King (hubs, headsets), Edge Composites (bars, rims), LH Thomson, and NoTubes.

Our dudes will be racing our stock 6061 Darksides (2.8 pounds for the 19" frame) for most events, and custom 650b bikes for the ultra-endurance and super rocky races (and our 140mm fs bike that's still underwraps).
As built, that bike is 19lbs, and we have lighter NoTubes ztr race wheelsets for the super climby events, and tubular wheels as well.

Looks fast! I'd really like to pick up some of the Edge rims and bars... good stuff.

The past few days I have been working on putting together a black 19" Darkside, just one thats a decade older than yours...:)

I can think of a project that you are working on that their 29'r all-mountain rims would be amazing on... Imagine double the strength of something like an ex721 at the weight of a light xc rim...

Blammo!

although all that steel tubing and then carbon rims? I dunno.

That thing needs some Holm rims or somethin instead! ;)

Mickey - that's one wicked fast looking bike right there. Nice!

With that same frame and a fork and wheel swap would it be 650b ready?

It crossed my mind... but I already had a pretty cool wheelset waiting for that one. Maybe for the next one...

Nice. I had a chance to ride a set of Edge rims not too long ago and came away super impressed. The ones I rode were like 30mm wide or something despite being an XC rim. Very stiff, less chance of pinch flats, super light. Would love a set to thrash on a regular basis. Hopefully the prices will come down eventually.

The 30mm rims are the "all mountain" rims. I am building a set of those for my dh bike this season...
