If anyone else was wondering, you can practice without signing up for sunday's race . . . from an email with downhillmike:

"Yes I just ordered wrist bands for that reason.
If needed we will have 1 truck go to the Reaper or Snakeback pick up
to accommodate everyone.

yo, I Just Saw Your Comment About The 175 Each Way For The Bike Doug, That Should Not Stop You From Coming Out. I Put My Dh Bike In A Bag For Europe Last Summer, It Worked Great. A 36 Inch Long, Round, 30 Dollar Duffel Bag. Tires, Tubes, Pedals And Seat/post In Another Bag, Wrap The Wheels And Frame With Your Dh Gear. No Fees, Under Weight, And No Problems. /users/steve/desktop/img_0421.jpg

Yeah c'mon Doug. You missed the race last year and I heard your name mentioned a few times. We could use a good Windrock representative at the Mob in Mojave.

Well last year we had just had our baby, so travel wasn't an option. I really missed it and certainly planned on it again this year. But after flying to Whiteface and the airlines loosing my bike I have just been sour on flying. I even took my bike apart like Steve did. I just ended up with wheels, helmet, and goggles. No frame. :( I had to borrow everything from Ken. Thanks again Ken. ;)

However, Steve represent and hopefully I'll see you this summer. I am planning a 2 week CO trip to include moto and trail riding. Plus I am sure I will need to visit Sol Vista!

I'll be riding this this weekend. Sorry for it being turned on its side.

Tire suggestions anyone? I've never been in that type of terrain...
I've got a few 2.7 Minion DHFs and a 2.5 highroller. Not exactly ideal... Will I benefit from less rolling resistance in the rear with the highroller on that track?

Doesn't matter. Traction is in abundance. However that combo is prefect.

I agree. If your coming from the east coast, you will not belive the traction you get at bootleg. I usually just ran whatever 2.7" tires I had that were worn since they will be trash after riding there. I prefer 2.7" tires there due to a lof of square edged rocks. your mileage may vary

The kid is looking forward to seeing you, I had to get up at 3:30am this morning to get him to the airport. You would not believe how much stuff they let him carry-on. NO baggage fees at all, he got there around noon with everything intact. He knows how to deal with the airlines for sure.:brows:

Now even tho your both finally over 18, just stay away from the strippers, hookers, bars and casino's.(yea, right)

Thanks, Mike !!!!

You have to be 21 for the Casinos and bars. The other stuff is still on the menu for anyone over 18.

Seriously though, walking down the strip at night is an experience. I wish I was out there for the race. I had planned on it up until the economy took a crap and we became a one income household. But at least I'm still riding this weekend.

Picked the kid up at the airport today. He only spoke twice the entire day. Both times he asked when we were going to eat.

We (2 already registered, 2 registering on-site) leave Denver Thursday afternoon. Finger's crossed on the weather for the drive.
