Where the riding is good
Some sad news trickled down the grapevine last night. Brent Thomson, the man who poured his heart and soul into the construction of the Bootleg Canyon trails, passed away not long ago after returning to ICU. Rest in peace buddy, and thank you for all of your hard work.

Oh god.

That is really, really, really infinitely horrible.

I've met thousands of people in my life. Brent was one of the two or three best.

This is a dude who needs to be remembered.

Wow, that sucks. He was a great guy. He walked up to me at Big Bear a long time ago when he saw the NV plates on my in-laws car. Started talking to me and asked if I wanted to come ride his trails. I probably have ridden with him 10 days since then out at BC. He was a great representative of the sport.

I was just out at bootleg for the first time ever at the race last weekend. Maybe it's because I live in nor cal where fun is pretty much illegal, but I was amazed by how awesome the entire place was from XC trails to dh to dirt jumps. The ammount of thoughtfulness and care that had gone into the facilities and trails blew me away.

Mountain biking needs more places like this and more people like Brent. I've never met him, but just seeing the work he has done made me realize what an awesome guy he must have been. I appreciate all he did for the sport, his passing is a great loss.

sad indeed. Met with him the very first time I hit Bootleg a few years back. Everytime I went back, he was alwys there, working the trails and encouraging us to ride his latest ones.

Best wishes for his family.
