First time it's been rebuilt or cleaned properly in over a year!! (And yes, I know it's still dirty!)

This is what I'll be racing on for 09. It looks a bit beaten in places, but still works fine so am trying to save my pennies...

Wish I'd got some better photos, but turned up to ride somewhere muddy and only thougth of taking some then - the sun was shining and the background was cluttered, not ideal for the first two pics:

Weight as pictured is 36.3lb. It's been lighter, but the Maxxis UST tyres weren't working for me, so now running the DH ones tubeless using sealant. Heavier, but no torn sidewalls yet which is a plus!

Best bike porn posted here in a long while!

If it ain't broke....
Well I dunno about that, there's some TASTY kit on this board, everyone seems to be getting something new and shiny apart from me!

FWIW I think the Nitromors might be paying me a visit again at some point this week.... whaddya think? :D

very nice. hope you filled in the nick on the stanchion.

I liked the old DH-I so much and regretted not getting one that I bought an old stock Ruckus frame to get a half glass of the fun.

Remember when it was sold with a Monster T as standard?

Nah, it's so high up that it hardly ever touches the seals, and the boxxer is a cartridge fork anyway, no pressure behind the seal, just a bit of lubrication oil. Not worth the hassle.

now only if I can get my hands on a rear triangle from a DHi....
I'm on my third now, each one has been a revision on the original design, hopefully this one will last a while. I have a very cracked one that I keep for posterity, and one which might be ok but I think had started to crack under the paint - that's the one that I'll go and get welded up if the one I have now fails catastrophically :)

Come on GT, where's my FURY! :)

are you missing the lower roller for the MRP?

are you using the Canon 50mm 1.8 prime on those shots?
Yes and yes (I think "over-using it" would be more apt, lol)

The roller fell off of my old DHi (a 2003) back in 2004. For a few months I didn't get around to replacing it, and the chain never once came off. So I decided not to bother replacing it.

Last year I went one further, and hacked my backplate up to remove all of the extraneous metalwork that is there just to hold the (redundant) bottom roller:

Well I run a small cassette, a super-short DA mech and run my chain as tight as I can, NEVER had a problem.

Rear triangles were a bitch with those frame. Mine died after 2 months of heavy use in Whistler in 2003. BUT, I must say it's the best handling and pedaling DH bike I ownded. Never got it down to 40 or less, but back in the days, weight wasn't really a concern like it is now.

Hey bud, where abouts do you ride? you up north? Love the bike, always wanted one when they were out. Its nice to see someone who keeps the same bike and does not change every season... How do you like those superstar pedals? just got my set.

I have been bad at doing that, but with the bike i have atm Im trying to keep it for longer.;-)

Had the superstars a few months now, love them so far. Ripped one pin out, must get around to drilling & tapping a new hole. I don't clip too much so I think they'll last me a while, especially if I carry on retapping :) Already bought a 2nd set for my XC bike, and may get a third for my hardtail!

I'm based in Cardiff (just, was Basingstoke before - boooooooo!) I race loads - this year I'll be at midlands, caersws, nps, taff, wdmba, you name it!

Wow... a DHi... I didn't think any of those were still in one piece... I can relate with still running an old frame... after I quit racing and sold my M-1, I'm back to running my old '98 Yeti Lawwill DH-6... with the '00 Boxxer, Hayes brakes and tubeless wheels from the M-1... mainly used for XC now (the frame can run a front derailluer), but sees lift-service once in awhile... Still one of the best climbing bikes I've ever tried.

kickin' it old-school...
