Has anybody tried one out yet? I'm worried the back part will be too high. And for all the people who are going to say to go my lbs/local moto shop, I will once any of them have one in stock.

I did own the leatt GPX Club. I never used it for downhill only for motocross. It bothered me to much. made it hard to move in turns. But all my friends won't ride unless they have it on. go for it if you want and if you have the extra $$$.

I just got one of the leatt adventure braces... Haven't ridden with it yet, but I spent about 45 minutes sizing it and adjusting, putting on with armor, without armor - while wearing it with my helmet etc. etc. It actually feels pretty good... I can see that it will prohibit your neck from over tweaking in a serious crash. Yes it is a little bit confining - as opposed to not wearing, but I think it will be fine... It will take a bit of getting used to, but it will give you piece of mind, and protect you in a serious crash! If you wear it with armor that has a spine protector, you will want to slip the back part underneath the spine protector for better fit... I have a six six one spine protector on my core saver that the top piece snaps off for just this reason. I'll let you know once I ride with it, and give feedback later...

The adventure lacks the adjustments that the Club or Sport have. The lack of adjustments works fine for motocross but on a DH bike it's neccasary to have those adjustments for a proper setup.

Leatt is very specific in that they do NOT want the brace worn without a spine protector. If you're going to use the Leatt, do it with a spine protector underneath the brace.

That has been the specualation, but have there been any actual try-ons to confirm yea or nay? Since the Adventure is set to 'average,' there is a possibility that there may be enough leaway with a slight-framed 6'-1" person such as myself. That's what I'm hoping for anyway.

Of course I won't know until the local moto gear shop gets them in and I can try one on with my armor and my helmet (I'm also told my Hurricane Flight has better clearance than many others) and on my bike in a DH stance. So we shall see.

I'll be real interested for your feedback after some use, mtakahas. When I go in for a formal test-fit, I'm, going to try both the Adventure and the EVS Evolution.

When I bought the Adventure a couple of weeks ago I also bought an extra backplate with a different angle (for DH). Works perfect for me....

mtakahas. could you pls take pictures of the LB as General Lee shown in the other thread? How long is your neck? Which setup do you use?
Thanx in advance for the info.

Hmm. It used to read on their FAQ page that it needed to be placed over a spine protector.

Where are the additional backplates for the adventures? That opens up options if there are different angle plates available.
Chriskring is right about what it says in the manual.

This is a specialy designed protector of UFO for the LB

About the fitment of the Adventure. For me it definitely wouldn't work, I had to take of a half inch from the helmet to be able to look ahead while on my dh bike and this was with the rear wing in its lowest position.
Also your riding style is of big influence.

"Somebody I know says he saw somebody crash" c'mon! Is the witness a surgeon? If the spine broke, the hit must have been very hard. Broken spine is not a tragedy. It can heal. Damaged spinal cord is a problem.
LB protects neck not entire spine. You can use it with or w/o chest protector. You can use it under or in between the chest protector. It depends on the construction of the protector.

the under or over spine thing is very confusing ...

If you are looking at less expensive neck braces, why not look into the EVS RC Evolution?

djamgils, I been thinking about LB for about a month, only... so I may not know all the stories...
BUT, as LB has been used by MX rider for quite ling time, already and there was no reports about injuries caused by LB... I am afraid this tragic accident you wrote about, was freakin' bad luck :| Sorry for him.

Probably was just bad luck.

The EVS would not work with many pressure suits because it would hit the shoulder cups off the pressure suits, this isn't a comfortable way to go,it's mostly designed for roost gaurds.

Yea, I cut my shoulder cups off years ago. Never even thought of that :bonk:

i have it and it's pretty cool for the money.....i should probably get in the habit of using it all the time and just get used to it.....it definitely bugs me a bit going down steep sections and trying to look up and forward....side to side doesn't really bother me.....i'm a little on the fence, but i think for my own good i should start just getting used to it.....

We just got some in stock,

The tail piece sits about where a Club brace sits stock. Most DHers need to adjust it down to get proper vision on steep descents.

There are people that have no issues with it though. It depends on your build and your riding position.

Bump - any more news on the Adventure? Hoping someone has info on the alternate back-plate to make it DH friendly....otherwise will have to suck it up and go Club.

Also, as a 5'7" 155lb (lean muscle, not fat large heh) woman, trying to figure out which size to get...thoughts?

I think it really depends on your build. I am 5'9, 160lbs and I had to use the optional parts with my gpx club brace. I don't think the adventure would have suited me correctly. I'm mainly using mine for mx but still, same thing applies for it fitting correctly for the most part.

I've been using the original Leatt Brace for over a year in both MX and DH. When we received our first Adventure Brace I compared it closely to the original. From the comparison it appears that the front and rear wings are permanently set in the middle position as compared to the original. For me this would work for MX, but for DH I had to lower the rear wing as low as it would go. With the Adventure the rear wing is too high for me and interferes with my helmet when going down steep terrain.

For some riders the Adventure may work out just fine as long as it is worn under armor or without armor. A lot of the fit comes down to body shape, most specifically in the shoulder and chest. Obviously the original LB allows for a better fit for most body types.

Thanks heaps! Scott, do you guys carry any version?

Edit - I guess I should actually say do you have any in stock so I can come try it on and then buy instead of taking my chances from an online place. Heh, plus it's not cheaper online so you shouldn't be worried. ;)

I got the GPX moto (pictured right above this post) a few weeks ago. It is worth the extra cost for adjustability.

Only time I ever notice it is with steep sections when I am looking up. Even in the most extreme situations, it doesn't limit much at all for me. Totally worth the protection / money.

Got my Leatt Moto a few weeks ago. Feels awesome, fits awesome, works awesome (already wrecked on it).

Great comparison shots! Thanks, Ive wanted to try one on with my gear just for the heck of it, seems like a very, very worthwhile investment.

What I need to do is draw a center line through each photo, and then make each photo 50% transparent and overlap them so you can see the difference in mobility.

But that's all I could come up with a few weeks ago.

ive got an adventure brace and have ridden with it a few times.
Its good ,doesnt impact the helmet ,even on the steep stuff in Rotorua in NZ.
id be interested to see if the new pad kit Leatt were handing out in SA would help it get lower. I havent noticed the brace after the first ride. I havent tried it with my pressure suit yet. but ill find out soon.
