i think its pretty obvious...he even said it himself...his wife is forcing him to sell it. he doesnt want to. if nobody buys it, he can say he gave it his best shot. im sure his wife doesnt know the value of bikes. this way, no one buys it, shes happy cause he at least tried (or at the very least cant be on his back about not trying), and he gets his bike. Oh happy days.

A local rider showed up for shuttles with one.
I have to admit, in person...that's a hot bike.

I agree with the other posters - he "tried" to sell it for so much he knew he'd end up keeping it.

This is funny

"I FEEL THE NEED TO SPECIFY THAT A TREK REPRESENTATIVE TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS 150 OF THESE MADE! I HOWEVER DON'T KNOW IF THAT IS 150 TOTAL OR 150 OF EACH SIZE (S,M,L) WHICH WOULD STILL ONLY BE 450! WHICH IS LOW!!!!!"

Actually, that's quite high quantity for a DH bike. I think Turner was making about the same numbers for the DHR in '05-'06.
