I'm just getting back into riding after many years of not riding (about 14yrs). I've been doing a little research on frames but still confused about which one to get. I was looking at the Blk Mrkt Riot but not sure. My price range is around 400-450. What would be a good frame to get.

Thanks

There are lots of good rides out there, I'm sure you'll get plenty of different suggestions from the peanut gallery. Any frame that somebody takes the time to list is worth riding. Help narrow it down a little. Include some of the following details:

What kind of riding did you do before you stopped?
How tall are you?
What will you be riding with the new bike?
Brake or wheel size preferences?
What fork do you plan on running?

I did a lot of dirt jumping, racing and some wall riding. The type of riding i want to do is street/dirt, nothing crazy. Forks, i was looking at Pike, again not sure. Brake and wheel size still not sure.

I'm about 6'2" and 190lb

Definitely ride a Riot first before you buy one... at your height, you might find a 22" Riot too small, and that is the largest they make.
I'm 6' on a 22" mob and wouldn't want it any shorter, frankly. I'm very close to hitting my knees on the grips when sprinting.

Otherwise, it's an awesome frame.

yeah, if you get a blackmarket mob, definitely get the longest one with 22.5" top tube.

The mob is a sick frame, but a little to exp. for me. I was also looking at the Transition frames, the medium is 22.5 and large is 23.6 and a little cheaper. I really need to ride one. you would think living in NY more shops would sell them.

Would 22.5 or 23 be better for you?

blackmarket sizes their bikes by Actual top tube length (like BMX bikes). 22" is exactly perfect for me. 22.25" might have worked too, but 22.5" would have been too long. My old eastern was 22.5" and it gave me back aches.

Looks like the sizing on my 22" mob is similar to the med TOP, but the large TOP is 23" actual.

the Large TOP could fit you, or it could be a hair too long... depends on the length of your legs/torso/arms too, of course. Best thing is to ride the bike, if at all possible.

the new NS Traffic could be a great bike for ya... 22.45" top tube. Sleeker lines than the TOP. Killer price shipped from the UK too!

i haven't ridden one, but i say definitely get the large. my friend's kona shonky is 23.5" supposedly and it feels rad. my 22.5"mob feels kinda short with a 55mm stem on it--i actually prefer the room a 70mm stem gives but that messes with the geo a little too much.. . the longer frame is better for manualing rollers, for stability, and for styling. all that up-front room for turndowns, x-ups, whips, etc. maybe if you want to spin 360's at a skatepark it's a different story...but no 6'2" dude will complain about a Transition TOP 23.5 being too long, IMO.

The 08 MOB for a little over 2 hundo is a good option.

There are some 24 cruiser completes in your price range. Are you set on having a suspension fork or rigid forks?

Do you want rim or disk brakes? Cruiser or MTBMX?

The more you lean towards a cruiser the cheaper the price gets. The quality doesn't really go down - MTB stuff is just way more expensive.

I definitely want suspension forks and disk. Right now my budget is around 1000-1200. I think the whole bike is gonna cost a little more then that. If i have to wait and save a little more, no big deal. as long as it's complete before the summer.

2008 Night Train 26" - $1190.00 Free Shipping

**Please note: we can ship this bike to anywhere in the Continental US only**

The 2008 Eastern Thunderbird is only $739 shipped. However, bad things have been said about the RST Space fork. I rode one on a stock Mongoose at Ray's and I also thought the fork was bad news.

A better budget option is the DK Xenia. (newer model now called the Asterik). I had an '05/'06 Xenia. Not as snappy geometry for skatepark as some other options, but at the same time real easy to ride and very stable for trails and jumping. Dirt Jam Pro fork had some tuning issues, but basically rode solid and was very adjustable with the one side air/one side spring thing.

ONLY $600 complete:

not to distract from that black market, because that is a STEAL.

I have an 07 Eastern Nightrain 24 for sale(these did not ship until like August of 07). It's been very lightly used and completely stock. It has an RST Space fork on it that has been lowered to around 67 mm of travel (according to the PVC spacers I used).

I have pictures of the fork mods that I did to lower it. It's a top notch job.

Anyways. 400 plus shipping.

So i'm going with the Large Transition frame, color Raw. I pick it up Friday the 6th.

Since I'm new to this. What are a good set of cranks? How are the Deity cranks?

version 1's or 2's ?????

Not that it matters - I'm just hoping they were version 1's because I still want a set.
