Hey everyone,
I'm new to ridemonkey and I'm trying to find a forum in which I can ask a question about how people rock their bull horn handlebars. I'm not really digging where my brake handles are on the bull horns and I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions about how else to position them. As of now, both the front and back brake handles are right by the bike stem, forcing me to do a lot of readjusting when I brake. I've been thinking about taking the back brake off then scooching the front brake handle somewhere else on the bars, but have no idea if this will work or not. Any suggestions?

I guess this is what you are talking about:confused:

Well, the time for moping about and using the excuse that my chain & cassette are done-worn-out is over...

I stopped commuting mid-October after my drivetrain decided that 3,000 miles was it's limit. So, I ordered a couple new chains and a couple new cassettes...and they've been sitting in my garage for the last 3 months.

So I finally tossed em on, cleaned up the trusty commuter, took it out for a 12 mile prolouge yesterday and will be commuting home this afternoon. I'm getting a month and a half headstart on last years commuting season, so we'll see how it goes.

Last night:

Wet.
Rainy.
Forgot my f*ckin' lights.
Followed a guy with lights for about 2 miles (once it got dark enough to need 'em).
Last 3 miles to my house (via the bike path) I kept yelling out, "Blink blink blink, I'm a headlight, blink blink blink!!" around every corner.

Today:
I remembered my lights.
Still rainy.

it looks like it might rain today - find by me, I'm prepared. I'm more worried about the low winter sun that blinds drivers as they head home. BLINK BLINK - I'M HERE

I get that in the morning headed east. I am always trying to have eyes in the back of my head on a narrow stretch of road that I have to take for a mile and a half.

In the 70's here, all week pretty much. Trying to ride every day. That would be 130 ish miles for the week.

I am worried about wind however, gusts up to 50 mph, and in my face!

little snowflakes falling this morning. Very quiet on the roads. I think I only saw 5 cars out this morning...where is everyone?

Interesting experience this morning!

Riding on the road portion of my commute, field to my right. I see some movement and look over and there is a coyote. I think cool, so I give him a little howl "Hoooooowwwwll" and he looks at me.

Seconds later from my left, a second coyote books it across the street right in front of me! I saw the whites of his eyes as it crossed in front of me as I was braking and attempting to avoid it. Missed it by about 2 feet.

Cool ya?!

Hey, guys, just thought we could add to the thread.
It was 53 degrees in the city last Thursday, tempting everyone to take off their fenders and switch to skinny tires in promise of spring...then Sunday night it dumped 10 inches of snow and the temp dropped to 14.

I hate winter in NYC.

(ps 6 mile commute each way, not too bad)

Unemployed and staying home :p It was pouring rain this morning when I rode in. Weather looks to be a bit better on the ride home
I hope the weather gets a bit better for my ride home. I just looked out side a bit ago and it was blowing snow sideways with fabulous gusto!

Shingles blew off my house about 20 min ago....wind sucks
dangness.

we're in red flag warning for 4th day straight (assume you are too) due to high wind & temps - 6500 acre fire burning down here caused by artillery fire

no one told me about the wind before i moved here. is there a single spot in co that does not have wind?

10 inches of snow and 14 degrees last Monday, 62 degrees and dry as a bone today. Riding to work in a Tee and jeans rocked.
You can't complain when you chose to wear a tee and jeans :) Sounds like you need boots and a down jacket

Not complaining at all, this weekends weather was fantastic! We just need to appease some winter god of weather evidently. 64 degrees and sunny yesterday: we had a BBQ to celebrate the opening of a new community bike co-op. Rocked shorts and tees all day. 40 degrees and drizzing into work this morning. Tomorrow I'm sure the sky will just implode on us completely. Wacky NE weather. Can't wait till spring.

It didn't snow on my this morning, but it probably will on the ride home. THat's fine, as long as it isn't too windy.

14 degrees this morning but should get up around 50 this afternoon so my nooner is on! This time of year is when it's hardest to decide what to wear for a ride because I don't want to be too cold or hot!
Ride on.

I've been commuting ~20 miles on my squishy tubeless mtn bike this week and ran over a piece of glass that no amount of Stans could fix. I had to walk the last 3 miles. Boooo. Luckily my road bike is here at work so I'll take that home.

What, you didn't have a tube you could throw in? That sucks. I've had to walk part way before because I had quickly grabbed a mtn tube when I was riding road. :clapping:
