Bikes You Miss...

I missed my Chameleon after I sold it... so I bought it back (and still have it).

I wish I hadn't sold my Indy Fab cross-bike... that was a really nice bike...

I sort of miss my 2nd mtn bike - a Head w/ elevated stays... but mainly for the nostalgia of it... despite being steel, it was so fricken stiff when I switched to a '92 Cannondale (which I still have, although unbuilt), I remarked about how much more comfortable it was...

Anything else with some level a sentimental value I still have... including my BMX bike from the 80's...

I miss all of my old trials bikes. I have owned about 8 of them all of them have treated me well. [/IMG]
I would have to agree. Last year when I found a Brisa stock bike for sale cheap I bought it. Now if it only had Magura HS-33 instead of the Loiuse discs.

I really miss my first bike built for trials a Schwinn homegrown Factory in the bass boat blue color.

HS-33 for the rear? I have had good luck with the Marta as front brake.

I remember Jeff Lenonsky's bass boat blue homegrown, nice color.

My first trials bike was a Diamond Back Sorrento Sport frame cromo, steel stays:plthumbsdown:
Had XT canti's and a home made double 32tooth chainring for a bashguard. Man it sucked when trials specific parts didn't exist.

Yes 33's for the rear, the disc drives me nuts and I cannot get near the holding power.

I was lucky enough to have a friend that work at a machine shop with a water jet so we made our own bashrings. I did break 3 homegrown frames because the brakes flexed the seatstays too much even with double brake boosters.

in the 12 years I've been mountain biking, I've never sold a bike (I guess that's why my stable is 7 deep at the moment). So I can't really contribute much to the thread.

I have to say, the PK took a lot of heat. With Redline Flights, ACS Z-Mags, and Landing Gear fork, and Uni Turbo seat, that bike was so damn light!

I had the same setup...it's one of the ones I miss. I also miss my 68 or 9 Stingray. I was young and had no idea what I had so I sold it to buy a Mongoose, which I also miss. That bike hung in mom and dads garage for around 20 years. I finally got it down a couple years ago and gave it to a friend of mine to give to his son.

Edit: I had ACS Z-rims, not mags.

A couple of rare old BMX race bikes I had....

Nomura http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c189/BRIANH309/IMG_0638.jpg

Similar to the PK, but a bit lighter and a massive thin walled oval down tube. They came in all kinds of crazy colors like gold, green and purple...as well as the standards like black, blue, red, pollished.....Mine was green Anno.

And this http://skinnygmg.echoes.net/rss_info.jpg RRS racing cro-mo frame. Had canti brake bosses, vertical dropouts and eccentric euro bb..Very cool and way much technical innovation for that time period.

Both bikes were built with: araya 7B on campy record track hubs (race rims) and graphite tuff wheels (campy hub internals) (for 'ridin'), JMC racing Darrell Young (a friend/mentor at that time) fork on the Nomura, Profile cranks, Triton bear trap pedals (pre Hutch), Campy headset, customized Uni seat.....etc

I miss most all of my BMX race bikes:

Scorpion with 1-3/8" wheels

My first (only) "partially sponsored" bike - CW (with the same 1-3/8" wheels) with every part hand picked.

I need to dig through boxes to get pics of these two....

My Floval Flyer sold due to financial circumstances:

My Specialized Allez Elite (my one and only road bike)

My Turner DHR - this one hurt to sell.....

I had the rims, too. My bad. My brother rocked the R&R with skyways.

My Floval Flyer sold due to financial circumstances:

That's a "new" Floval Flyer, right? Other than the V Brake, how is it compared to the original? I had an original one after I out grew my PK, but I hardly rode it. I was skating full time by then.

I miss my 303.

I still have it, it is in my garage, but there is no riding to be done here...

As for old bikes, I miss my old Orange 223. I think I rode that bike better (at least results-wise) than any I have had before or after.

schwinn straight six. all bassboated out...classy chassis. sold it to get a heavier duty dh bike. that was dumb.

Yep... considering the Straight 6 makes a good HD trail bike when fitted with the front derailleur... which is how mine (Yeti version) is set up. I kept mine when I bought a dedicated DH bike...

Unfortunately, wear-parts for it (various bushings) are getting hard to come by... :(

It was/did. I loved that suspension design and the bike felt "natural". I occasionally search for another one to replace it, but I just can't bring myself to throw $900 or so into a 10 year old bike with an unsupported shock and no replacement parts...no matter how good the ride was. The geometry was spot on with that bike. I remember getting it back in high school and unwrapping it in the driveway, it was packed up so tight. Then I found out the axle was broke and had to wait 60 days for ringle to fix it...butt-monkeys. Oh well...

there is no need to buy a new bike every year/two/three....that simple.

Exactly. That's why I'm going to be sticking with my GT trail bike for the 4th season, and i'm sticking with my 2006 Stab Deluxe for another couple of seasons if it holds up.

Yeah....it was an '08. I was really happy with the build quality - and the quality of the bike in general. Quick out of the gate!

"Circumstances" get in the way of fun sometimes though and I had to let it go (at least I got a good price for it).

i always wanted a super v. I think if I had one now, and it kind of sucked, I would cut off the seat mast, throw a lefty on, and have the goofiest looking bike in existence

I miss my 1980 custom built Colnago SL frame. That bike fit me to a t and handled like a bat out of hell. after 21 years of hard riding I broke the BB Shell. I don't realy miss the bike itself but I do really miss the ride that it gave. not that my 2003 Colnago Masterlight X is a slacker but it just misses in that something special as you dive though a high speed corner

84' First Gen. HARO Sport:

...it was EXACTLY the same bike pictured here - Oakley F-1 grips, Z-Rims and all... got it in April of 84' I believe... what kills me is that during a move I tossed the frame... God I hate myself for that... I got another Sport in 86' so since I had 2 frames and my parents were moving I figured: "Well this one is pretty beat up - might as well chuck it..."

 :disgust: :banghead: :(

All my old 20"; Hutch Hollywood, Redline RL20, Skyway Street Beat, Haro Group 1, Hutch Trickstar, GT Pro Performer and Interceptor, and CW that was actually owned by Dizz Hicks at one time.

Only 26" was my Gary Fisher Pro Caliber.
