Looks significantly slacker, possibly from running a shorter I2I by the looks of things..its also got a lower bb, and a visibly shorter front end, but longer back end than the 8, which would let them use a shorter I2I to slacken, and lower the bike.

Thats not a link from the demo 7 but rather the magnesium link from the high end demo 8 which bolts together as opposed to the aluminum version on the stock demo that you pictured which is welded together.

Chainstay looks normal, the Mag link is present, from what i see the rear end is pretty standard, but the front is pretty new. The BB is lower - looks like 1/1.5 inch lower, the HA seams to be 64-ish. The front shock mount looks lower so.. should be more progressive and there is some visual weight loss... yeah looks like the Demo, Specialized never had :)

Looks like the seat tube had to be kinked to clear the seat stay bridge at bottom out.

I like it though, all the subtle changes make it look more low slung and compact compared to the regular demos.

From what i could tell. The i2i is the same but the mount is a 3/8" forward thus making the bike lower and and about 3 degrees slacker

In the new DIRT mag specialized stated the only real change from a stock demo "so far" was lowering the BB and they state the top tube is a the sam as the small size. They say Sam likes th BB "crazy low".

haha I just scaled the other pic till the axles lined up correctly. Think some of it was Sam's bike was taken at a slight angle and is on an incline. Made it tough to line every thing up. I tried it with the tires first than said screw it and went with axles.

Yup - the slackness goes without saying... :)

As was said before it's still pretty early in the year so who knows what other little tricks or bits might show up on his ride before WC #1. Interesting build so far.

Let's not forget the 1.5" HT either.

does anyone know for sure if the catalogue picture and Hill's frame are the same size?

what are the two bolts for on the stock front shock mount?[/QUOTE]

You can flip the shock shuttle on the stock frames to steepen/slacken the HA. Not sure why anyone would bother to make the frame steeper but its there if you want to give it a go.

As much as the Demo's look all tubey they ride great and are a very solid setup.

Personally I like Hill's bike, but I've always liked Demos.

Looks like he's running 7" rotors front and rear?

do you think the schrader valve in the back and presta valve in the front have anything to do with his higher level of being?

apparently, according to the DIRT article... The 2010 Demo 8 will be the same angles, BB height etc as the team bikes. If Spec is going in that direction, we might see some pretty damn sick bikes from them in the not too distant future.

That would be VERY cool if true.

that would be amazing! has no one seen the seat tube isnt straight? is that a clearence matter or is that for a longer TT length, since after all, a small Demo has around 116 between wheel axels right ? (which is more like his medium franken sunday?)

Most important, are those prototype Spec tires??
Actually those are production tires. The new "Clutch" model for 09'. The tread pattern closely resembles a Maxxis Minion - so no wonder Sammy is running em'. :)

They are 2.3's - but keep in mind this is Spesh's version of a 2.3" tire - so it's more like a true 2.5".
