Waaaay out there
What if....someone were to go around a large jump, but use the excuse "I slipped a pedal" or "I didn't even see it there." Would there be any way to avoid being clowned by the rif raf spectators??
You go around anything...and you will be clowned by an old man on an orange Intense!

Wil, You guys gonna have REAL timing at this event? Or the cellphone/stopwatch kinda crap. :disgust:
This may have been asked/answered previously but I'm too lazy to look through 6 pages to find it

There will be REAL timing with REAL number. Be happy.

So how wet are the Trails over there right now. If I remember right the Clemson DH trail is pertty bad after rain. Was hoping to get over that way Sunday to see what you guys changed up. May just go to Pais tomorrow so I don't mess the DH trail up in the mud before the race. Paris drains really well.

Let me know?

Looking for some lodging Friday night- Is there anywhere to camp in the nearby forest? Or any convenient woods to set up a tent in?

It rained for about 4 days straight until last Saturday and we are supposed to get a little more rain during the middle of the week. The course drains fairly well and the dirt re-hardens fairly quick. The race-time conditions will really depend on how much rain we get this week.

The course is pretty much 100% hard-packed red clay, so there's no need for a real knobby tire. Anything that rolls fast will be fine.

There are several motels in Seneca on Hwy 123 just past the turn for the trails. You'll be able to find several places that are all around $50 for a night.

I'm still curious where the beginning and ending of the dh course will be?

I'm with you on that 06sxtrail. I am starting to get excited. I am wondering also if there are any other shots of the new trail features completed and being hit. :)

Did rain last weekend hold you guys up much on trail building?

I appreciate this, but I'm asking about camping, not a motel. I really don't mind camping in the slightest.

There are many places close to camp on Lake Keowee which is just a few miles away

should I take specialized sx 4'' travel or intense m3???

sx for sure, but bring the m3 if you aren't comfortable jumping on the SX.

is it cool if i come out thursday or friday to ride a couple of practice runs
Come on out, but things may still be a little soft on Thursday from the rain we are expected to get on Wednesday. If you come out on Friday, be careful riding because we will be taping the course and doing other miscellaneous work.

Everything has generally been finished for about a month, but it did put us behind painting the wall-ride. Should be nice and fresh for the race.

I'm still curious where the beginning and ending of the dh course will be?
If you are familiar with our "downhill" course, the starting gate will be right before the wooden A-frame structure. The course this year will NOT have the long, flat pedal section. The finish line will be immediately after the creek gap.

Hey,
Do you guys know the approximate start time for the beginner race. I'm trying to decide if I should get a hotel or just head up at my Dad's house in Hendersonville. Thanks.

Cool thanks. I plan to check it the course on friday for a walk and ride through. Oh yeah are leashed dogs kosher at the race or should I leave him at home.

we've called around to some local BBQ places to see if they want to bring a concession trailer out, but to no avail.

150+ hungry people in the middle of the woods with no competition sounds like a pretty good opportunity, but people around here don't even know what a mountain bike is, let alone a mountain bike race.

PM any clemson freerizzle people if anyone has any ploys.

Also, sorry about not posting up any video or pictures of the course and the new additions as promised a while ago, but with the recent rains we haven't been able to ride it without trenching things up.

The dirt should be nice on Saturday.

Looks like a beautiful day! I just hope that this spring growth sucks up the water that dumped on us the past couple of days..

Yeah a bunch of us were out there all afternoon and everything has dried really well. It should be really nice and tacky tomorrow.

Another well done DH race in the South East. Great job to all the Clemson guys, my hats off to you all. Also 104 entries was great to see at a South East race too. Just means the sport is growing again!!!!
