Sabin is a Pro....
He was the guy that brought Maxxis Upmarket ("designed" the highroller and the minion), brought Kenda up market, etc.

Duro makes lots of tires that have lots of other companies names on them.

Give them a year or two, and there should be some pretty kickass rubber. They have the dude with a plan, and the machines and funding to back it up.

Seb - only really seen them OEM on cheap to mid priced bikes or in cheaper bike shops, I bought a bunch of Duro tyres a few years back, can't remember exactly what they were called, IIRC the tread was similar to an old Tioga DH but the compound was softer and sidewalls better - they were £3.70 + VAT

I used a duro tire a while back, it has a case that extended out to protect the rim. It was heavy with great grip and durability. Duro is another factory just like cheng shin.

I had a Duro tyre on a second hand DH bike I bought way back, might still have it. It was better than some of the big brand tyres that were available at the time, but not brilliant. At that time michelin ruled the roost!

That one looks a little Arrow-ish.
Here's the deal= Arrow Racing has been working with Duro for 18 years designing DH type tires ,Duro had no true competitive tire line until Arrow developed its line thru racing. Now that Duro is finally entering the competitive arena ,they are actually ripping off some of Arrow's tire designs.

Arrow Racing is just a small USA grass roots company ,it has been involved in MTB racing for 22 years ,and has been viable throughout these years by attending races, and gaining loyalty by helping small teams ,novice to Pros, and we thank all for their support because we don't drip with big magazine adds, nor can afford the price of a high profile pros.

This is a old story of big moneys stomping around without regard ,and i think we see the effects in these practice's in today's economy ,where real honesty, and integrity takes a back seat to $$$$..

Wow, did not know that. Do/did you work for Arrow?

It's one thing when people scream rip-off on these forums, but it's another when a company uses a manufacturer for production because said company is too small/doesn't have enough capital to do their own production. It's an unfortunate reality that is one of the more common fears with overseas production.

If this is true I would be very leary of supporting a this large tire production house.

Are any other tyre companies honest, ethical, good to give $$$ to?
I'm an avid believer in voting with my money by not giving it to A-Holes. There's always someone prepared to sell out(or they never even knew)to climb the corporate ladder. Heck, doesn't American law basically state that a corporation must always put profit first? so ethics have to take a back seat. Scary times.

Yeah it seems like tires lately have been getting out of control. You can't buy anything decent without shelling out crazy clams

Been testing the tires out and yes the designs are old but with some cuts they are very decent!! You should be seeing some new tires pretty soon that are going to rip!!
Looking forward to working with this company in the development of the tires alongside Mike Sabin.
We have the New DH tire coming out end of the year and we have been working on a new mud tire that will be a True All terrain tire that you can buy and use for extreme mud or even in the dry without the tire rolling all over the place.
Give us 2-3 years and we should be offering 4-6 new updated models that you know will work and for a really good price!

Geoff has been on Duro's all season and with some cutting tips from Geritt, he has been very happy. The compound sticks like glue and the side knobs really hook up. We've both been running their cutdown spikes with great success. He's happy to be on them again for 2010.
