Gonna be there next month, meetings end on friday, flight back to the states is sunday.

Want to rent a bike and ride some trails. Anyone have any connections or recommendations?

Plan B is lots of beer, bratwurst and drunk shopping for music at the saturn store in karlsplatz.

Isartrails! just by the banks of the river isar is a vast network of trails and a pretty rad jumpspot (bombenkrater).

you can also contact "bikepunk" over at drunkcyclist.com, i think he's an american ex-pat living in munich, maybe he can help you out. since he's staff at big jonny's site, i'm deeply convinced he can help you at plan b, too!

edit: i just did some google-ing and discovered, that the Bombenkrater trails have been tore down by the city council. RIP.

Yeah, my german stinks. I speak it about once a quarter when I am in germany. Took it for 2-3 years in high school, but that was 25+ years ago. I sound like a 4 year old when I talk.

Kaiserslautern is north, up by frankfurt.

I think I have a bike hook up and I think I can ride in Starnberger, just take the bike on the train with me. OF course, we need to make sure that there is no snow at that time....

when are you going? munich is free of snow for quite a while now, there'll be no more snow until december. munich is not that close to the northpole as it might look from texas ! :-) starnberger see is nice, the alps are 1,5h car ride away, you have a lot of options.
here's link to a regional forum:

I fly from texas to munich a couple times a year, so I pretty much know where it is in relation to the north pole ;)

I pinged a shop in Starnberg about 2 weeks ago and they said they weren't sure about the trails because they had 2 meters of snow on them.

Thanks for the link, I'll check it out. My german is pretty crappy, as proven above. Maybe if some 4-year-olds are on the site I will be ok :)
