If you're not going into massive debt to afford your toys and getting your house foreclosed on and stuff, I don't think anyone can fault you for earning money and spending it on stuff you like.

Hell there's a thread in the DH forum started a by a guy that just bought TWO Morewood Makulus, one with a Bos Sextoy and one with an Elka, top notch builds. Easily 12k worth of bikes. Nobody's giving him any crap about it.

Your garage sounds sick! I have a volvo turbo wagon too, one of the T5s. It's completely stock though, haha. I can't justify pouring money into modding my car.

it's a serious addiction. I just found the morewood guy's thread, its interesting (but i guess not surprising) to find such "like-minded" people in similar situiations.

I love me some volvos i went on a 12k mile, 3 month cross country trip in an I5 powered volvo wagon. That was probably the best time of my life so far, man i wanna do that again.

If I didn't have massive student loan debt and a lot of expenses on the horizon (and a girlfriend, haha) I would be spending all my money on bikes, electronics and cars.

My last car was an old 1990 740 sedan. Tremendously underpowered, but solid as hell. A guy at my dads work only owns volvos as well, restores them, tunes them, pretty cool stuff. Didn't know there were people that loved the brand like that.

You have NO idea. :busted:

www.turbobricks.com
www.brickboard.com
www.vcoa.org

just to name a few. Turbobricks is the high performance sector, Brickboard is kind of more maintenance and resto type stuff. Check out the featured car on turbobricks, it'll make you happy in the pants if you thought your 740 was underpowered.

I dropped out of college (mechanical and electrical engineering at RIT) because I hated the school, so I don't have any debt there anymore. I don't have a girlfriend because i'm wayyyy too cynical and cold due to being burned horribly by a girl I would have married... not to mention, they're generally too stupid in the areas of the things I enjoy for the whole "girlfriend" experience to be enjoyable. So, more toys for me. The motorcycle this season isn't hurting the whole "female attention" side of things either ;)

Hahaha, the funny thing is, I always fantasized about hanging onto the 740 and swapping the 4 for a nice big 8. Like they say on there, perfect sleeper car. That guy's 740 is sick. 400 hp would be a lot of fun to play with.

Live your life, man. 23 is a good age to just be doing your thing. Happiness and duty are all that matter, and those mean different things to different people.

Oh yeah, this is an 09 season bike build thread, haha. I'll be running the same sinister R9 I was on for the 2nd half of last season, but swapped the 5th Element for an 08 DHX 5.0. No plans for any other upgrades unless stuff breaks. If the shock needs servicing this season I'll probably send it to Push.

Can't wait to ride and check out the new trails (and hopefully hit some that are new to me).

out of curiosity, how old are you all? I cant wait to ride with you guys, I'm gonna need some training behind faster guys to get my speed back up. I separated my AC towards the end of last season and slowed down for the remainder. Plus getting used to the new rig is gonna take some time.

I'm 23 til June. FWIW

For the guy that asked, I drive a 01 S4 Avant, with some mods, she's waiting for bigger twins to go under the hood. I also have a Volvo 940 Turbo wagon running a megasquirt standalone with a big turbo and a bunch of fun goodies, and an old first gen Rx7 that i prepped for SoloII racing but then blew the tired old motor, been sidelined ever since.

I aim to have all 3 operational by the end of the summer. (i'm never gonna find time to find a decent woman, lol)

Also for the guy that asked, I went with the Elka based on a long conversation with Chris Canfield, he said that he and his brother had the chance to ride them (the Bos and Elka) on a Jedi back to back. We had previously spoken about how much they like the feel of the DHX5 over other shocks on their frame. He said that the BOS feels over damped for their linkage and the way it was designed to be ridden. Comparitively he said that the Elka feels more like a Push'd DHX (their previous ultimate recommendation for the Jedi) with better adjustability, and basically perfect for the bike. The BOS made the Jedi feel a little more dead, and it was not BAD, but they both immediately wanted to switch back to the Elka. Doesn't seem like you can go wrong with that information.
I am 16. I would have try your elka shock. It sounds intense.

dont you live in the city? been to diablo like twice? how can you have a prefrence of either when you have never used one?:twitch:

no i live NEAR the city, and ive ridden diablo like 15 times.. its not my fault i live an hour away, unlike u, right next to diablo....
ive ridden boxxers not 40s but i have a fox 36 and i love it, so i would definitly go for a 40 unless i would want a rlly light build...

I too am getting a Jedi but apparently the elka wont be ready till may. So I'm going with the Fox so i can get my darn bike! I need it in time to ride it a couple times before my worlds qualifiers at the beginning of may.

I figure if i hate the Fox that much(really doubtful) then i can just sell it and get an elka, or just get it pushed!

if someone really wanted to win a world cup they would buy the best/fastest bike to get noticed. just sayin.
World cup racers generally become noticed at 15 years old. Then they get sponsored and ride the sponsors bike. And they probably did it all on a red and white iron horse sunday with a boxxer team and sunn add wheels.
