Search function doesn't seem to be working at the moment so I'm sorry if this has been asked before.

I just picked up a new Boxxer Race and added the M5 nylok nut internal floodgate adjustment which makes a pretty noticeable difference just pushing down on the fork when you have the LSC cranked up.

My last fork was a Totem and from what I can tell, the new 2010 Boxxer's are essentially using the same compression circuits as the Totem. The LSC on that fork was incredible and made a major difference in keeping the fork upright and stable. However, from the parking lot test I cannot tell any difference in the LSC of this 09 Boxxer when I adjust it. I have the Nylok nut adjusted in ~ 1mm from from the closed floodgate plate/piston position. Is there any chance that this is causing the LSC to blow off to soon? Does the nut depth have to be set further in, or is the LSC in general pretty useless on this fork?

The nut has to be further in. The fork should lock out with the compression closed, while being possible (but quite difficult) to compress. Two clicks back from closed should give a lot of damping without feeling locked out.

So if I'm understanding correctly, there is a mod to make the Race feel effectively as good as the Team?

I got a 08.5 / 09 team boxxer. (ran manitou and older boxxer for a years)
I took it apart and rebuilt it and i did notice when the compression is cranked she is locked, is this OK ?

Yes and yes... the nylock nut mod is covered in the long speedstack thread, if you read it backwards from the last page you'll stumble across the instructions pretty soon.

Bummer. Sounds like I could have potentially saved myself about a hundred bucks by going with a used Race as opposed to Team. I had read a bit about the mod, but did not fully understand it. I still have a lot of reading to do about the Team.

Interesting.

I figured that the nut had to be adjusted in a bit more. Does anyone have any depth measurement recommendations? Right now as I have stated, the nut depth is probably a little over 1mm away from engaging the floodgate plate/port. I'm guessing that this distance is too short and causing the floodgate to blow open too soon no matter what setting the LSC is set at, causing me to probably have little to no actual LSC damping.

UDI, have you ridden a Totem? Beautiful LSC range (should bode well for the new Boxxer). When I had a Totem, I would set the LSC cranked to nearly full on in most instances since it had a major impact with regard to fore/aft balance and stability. Funny they had a more advanced single crown that blew the Boxxer's compression damping out of the water. Should I be able to achieve the level of LSC I'm looking for with this floodgate adjustment?

I have my MOCO spare here now. Tell me what you need me to measure inside and the numbers will be up this afternoon. I run my gate setting at 3 clicks in from the fully open - setting.
