2009 Jamis Parker1 Question

What do you guys think of it? I couldn't find too many reviews. My buddy bought it and doesnt want it so I can scoop it up barely ridden for 1g. I'm looking for a good all around bike. Trail ride, freeride, dirtjump, urban. I want a good all arounder.

Let me know what you think

for a g i'd so go for it, I rode last years parker two and it handled good on trails, dj's and all around.
The bb is a bit high for a dual salmon style bike, but good enough to clear rough stuff

Could you clarify in what you mean by saying "stout"?
I am just curious because I want to eventually get one or a similar bike.

they beefed up the whole rear end for 09, went to big boxy stays and 8mm hardwear i think. i've watched an 08 get hammered all day at snowshoe (rocky east-coast bike park) under a 200lbs rider with no issues.

Yea, that is what I was looking for. The bottle rocket is a heavy bike. But it's wheel base is like an inch longer and the head degree angle on the bottle rocket is one degree slacker. I like the slacker head angle but I want an all around bike that can still be thrashed. I was thinking nomad, but this is a little out of my range ($400 more for an am version) and the jamis weighs in at 35.20 lbs, not too bad considering it can take a beating. I was also thinking about a sinister gruitr if they are not too much complete. The frame isn't that much but I am wondering if they offer parts packages. I built up a downhill bike this winter and when you buy the exact spec you want, it gets pricey.

I guess I just need something that can ride jumps, some xc, and some more dh oriented trails.

Well I got it today...... I sorta lied about getting it from a friend to hide approx. shop prices because Ive had people trip out if you list near wholesale. I actually Employee Purchased it from Jamis.

Out of the box It looked sweet. Put it together and dialed in the suspension. I'm not a huge fan of the brakes so far. I'm thinking of selling them and putting on a pair of hope m4's. I havent had a chance to trail ride or jump it yet but rode around a parking lot and it felt good. Wheelies really easily. Immediate upgrades are going to probably be brakes and pedals.

I was curious about putting in a DHX. Any thoughts? The eye to eye is 8 inches with the vanilla. Could I put in a 8.5 inch coil shock? It would increase travel too correct? Or maybe a Roco because it matches the 10mm hardware.

Also thinking of throwing on a fox 36 in white and changin stuff out to deity in white.

I'll post pics tommorow
