Both are great places. Snowshoe has more natural terrain trails and Diablo has more freeride/slopestyle trails. If I were to have to pick one based solely on the riding, I would probably go with Diablo.

Now the village at snowshoe is much nicer than at Diablo. Diablo is getting better with that regard. Snowshoe will probably be less expensive lodging.

Diablo, the diversity of trails they have is amazing. I am not bored after a whole season, so I am sure you'll have a blast for 3 days.

Both Places are great as far as riding goes. I would do both during ther summer. Of course both have their good points and bad points.

Diablo good, Plenty of trail choices, fast lift. Plenty of stores and restaurants close by.
Very fast lift lines
Diablo bad, somtimes crowded with lots of regulars that know the trails way better than you will, blazing down the trails. First timers and noobies always seem to be in their way. The ocassional crappy attitudes that are normal to NY and much of the Northeast.
Dusty, and hot in the summer. If you dont know where all the trails are, you will not ride 60% of them, Worst of all the water park!! and dont forget the Hamburg speed trap.

Snowshoe good. Plenty of trails. Rainforest like shade, Laid back attitudes. Great bike shop with plenty of parts and gear. Really cool village atmosphere. plenty of great affordable housing if you are traveling in groups of 4 or 6 people.

Snoweshoe bad. Sloppy mud, in the middle of nowhere, If you need it you had better brought it with you. Lack of cheap housing for one or two people. The shuttle bus if the race side lift is not running. the ocassional almost collision with the very friendly deer population on the trails. Very big bears .

I am sure there are more good and bad for each place, and the good far outweighs the bad. I like Snowshoe. If I was planning a 3 day or more it is a great place. Since Diablo is closer to home I can feel happy with a day trip.
My two cents...
