I'm going to be buying a Sherman jumper (80mm) later today, and was just wondering, for those of you that ride a Sherman, how it is?

Also, as a more general fork question, what should I be looking for when looking at the fork? Anything to inspect(aside from basic stuff like gouges on the stanchions, cracks etc.), anything that should alert me to run far far away from a fork?

thanks

I don't know about the Sherman, but I have the 2008 Manitou Gold Label, which I think was a pretty similar but a little lighter version of the Sherman.... They stopped making the Gold Label for 2009....

It has been awesome... It definitely has a stiff dual coil spring feel, and very responsive push back, good for jumping--not so great as an xc fork cuz it doesn't take out the small bumps like an air fork or one-side-air fork would.

You can not buy springs from manitou to replace sherman springs anymore. and the tool and dye springs do not sit flush. So if the spring is fine for you then you're set, if not, you have some modification to do and then it still might not be perfect.

I ran one for years and just recently replaced mine with a gold label
only problem I ran into was that my steer tube ended up loosening from the top crown so now I need a new crown to replace
anyone have some sherman uppers for sale?!

That's how I've killed mine off too.

on my bike...
Ive had mine forever. i am actually selling my fork which has gold label uppers and sherman jumper lowers. Its like a custom fork haha. I snapped my gold label lowers about 6 months after i had the fork and just replaced it with my sherman jumper lowers that i had from my old sherman jumper fork.
