Recommend me some tires

Quo Fan

don't make me kick your ass
I have a '98 Tacoma with 170K on the clock. I'm looking to get 300K out of her and I'm going to need tires before the winter. I do a lot of driving, around 30K a year, and some of it is on unimproved surfaces (construction sites). I'm not sure what I want to spend on tires, but I want something that will drive on the highway well, and give decent traction on the unimproved surfaces.

Let's hear what the monkeys have to say.

2nd the BFG KO.
If you want something cheaper, the Yokohama AT/S are decent. Mine have been great on my Taco, especially considering I'm only 2WD. Made in Japan too.

Just got some "all-weather" D-rated Nokians for my van. Should be sick in the dirt/rain/mud whatever. They wear fast though.

After going through many different tires, the local stone quarries settled on these as they don't get get ripped to shreds.

I used to have these on my 87 Bronco. Put over 40k on them, including light/medium trails and they only wore down to 9/32nds when I sold em. They sucked in snow until I had them siped at a local tire shop. After the siping, they kicked ass on the snow and ice.

Runway Enduro (Hankook's second line). The set cost me $275

I would get the Michelin LTX/AT. So far the Michelins have been great for me. I did not get stuck in the snowy parking lot this winter(2wd truck). Last winter I was stuck multiple times with the BFG's. Most the reviews I have seen say you can expect 50-60k out a set of Michelins.

I had the BFG A/T KOs and was not overly impressed with them. The had good traction off road, decent in the snow but the did not last long. With you driving 30k an year expect to get new tires every year.
