Yo,

Just a head's up. The WMBC will be having our next FR trailday.

Sponsor: Fanatik Bikes
What: Lower Scorpion Fixes and new Upper Luge section
When: Saturday April 25th
Time: 9:45 Meet time.
Where: Parking lot off of Lake Padden Near Galbraith Lane.

Details:
Fanatik Bikes is sponsoring this day and will provide a lite breakfast and lunch. The plan is to put in a few reroutes on lower scorpion and we'll also add a few berms and jumps. The goal is to open up sightlines on Lower Scorp a bit, speed it up with some well placed bermage. We'll also be adding a new connector to the Luge (to replace Dan's) which will go in directly across from a new exit to Scorpion.

We have had incredible turnouts for each build day this year - averaging 30+ people, so let's keep that trail karma going into summer with galby trails ready to rip!

More info. from Hawk:
Only a couple more trail crew work dates left.
  • April 25th - Scorp & Luge maintenance and reroutes sponsored by Fanatik
  • May 9th - General buffing, hit building sponsored by Hidden Wave
  • June 13 or 14th - End of the year BBQ/Raffle.

Remember, for those that show up and help, their names get added into a raffle drawing at the end of the year BBQ in June. The more you help, the better your chances of winning something cool. Backpacks and jerseys from DaKine and a TransAM frame from Transition Bikes are among the items trail crew volunteers will receive. Come on out and increase your chances or picking up some cool gear.

Cheers,
EB

Trails at Galby are MINT right now. All of this winter's work is really paying off.

Come on out and give back to the hill. The re-routes on Scorp and the new section on Luge are going to make both much better.

Cheers,
EB

Many thanks to the Fanatik crew and everyone that came out for this trailday!! Props to Matt (Lizardlake) who was battling a 102 fever to come out and lead a big trailday. Holy crap, I've been blown away with the turnout this season for the traildays and how much has gotten done. I think folks will agree that the effort is reflective in how well the trails are draining and schralping.

Not only did Fanatik take great care of everyone with breakfast, lunch and post-work bevvies, but they had 5 folks busting their butts all day on the trail. Matt probably has the final tally, but I'd say we had between 35-40 folks again.....I think I counted 5 ladies too. What started with gray skies ended with beautiful sunshine and a killer day for building.

Progress:
We got the new exit to Scorp and the new entrance to Luge cut in and both are looking great and probably 90% from dialed. On the exit to Scorp, the re-routed sections were totally buffed with drainage and you carry a bunch of speed out of it. We've got to tweak the berms (more dirt and shaping) before the new step up jump to carry more speed. Currently, you carry too much speed out of the rerouted section into the berm and scrub most of the speed before the jump. Also, we're not sure if the pumpers will stay or not. Once dialed, I think folks are going to enjoy the new exit to Scorp much more than the previous straight shot to the road.

On the new Luge section, there are several new hits and 3 or 4 berms. The entire section is down to mineral gold and a few folks built a killer drainage using a culvert where a natural spring popped up. Russ B. and a crew of folks built a killer new table in the middle of the section that looks NICE (they moved a ton of dirt)! The exit still needs a bit more love. You can now ride directly into the pre-existing Luge (you have to hop over a log - we'll cut/split that up and use for rungs), but that will get work this week.

Again, thanks to everyone for giving up a day of riding to give back to the hill. Kathy Salisbury was taking pics during the day, so I'll see if I can grab those from her.

Next trail day is May 9th.
We'll be buffing, building jumps and making tweaks where necessary to several trails like Scorpion, Evo, Mullet, Luge.

Braaap!

GO! SEAHAWKS!
Hi, I didn't go to the work party but rode up there on Friday and would like to thank the trail builders/maintainers for all the work and time they put in up there over the winter. It's pretty freakin' awesome to come off the mountain in April with a dry bike.

Thanks for all the work :clapping:
