Im looking at the soul cycles matador frame again, after about a year I never pulled the trigger and ordered one, so ive pretty much been bikeless and i finally want to get back into riding and I see soul cycles is having closeouts on the frame and I know a few of the guys on RM had the frames built up.
Im just wondering how things are holding up and if anyone is still riding theirs and liking it.
I live in arizona and it seems a 5 inch travel bike would be perfect.

I came close to buying one but didn't, for only one reason- from pictures it shows the swingarm/chainstay is two seperate pieces bolted together instead of one welded piece, like on every other bike out there. Just one more thing to worry about- after riding it hard for a year what if those bolt hole ovalize? Plus keep in mind it does not come with a shock. If it was more like $250 with shock I'd risk it.

Yea i was already planning on a buying a shock since it doesnt come with one, but I never looked close enough at the swing arm being seperate pieces.
And i think the close out price is 350 not 250, either way i think this weekend ill do some research and look at some build of the matador and hopefully pick the frame up next week
Im still looking for info from any guys that still are riding the bike

I ride for Soul Cycles and have been on the Matador for a while. I have it dialed for just about every kind of "all around riding". But If you want something a bit more trail oriented, soon the Vegas will be available for the purchase. It is a bit bigger and has better geo for trail riding/all mountain.

Yea i like the vegas alot but i wont have the money, and the matador looks like a few people have built it up as a "all around rig". And thats what i hopefully plan on doing.

Ive been considering the pike over a lyrik and domain just because it looks perfect on the bike.

How do you like the Pike for all around use.

Love the pike, handles everything with ease. The bigger fork is purely because I like a slack headangle. Have a Domain on backorder though, apparently there was a big recall on all 08 Domains or something.

I had one for a bit.
I liked it. Super stiff frame. Handled everything I threw at it. Put a Roco R Air on it and it felt nice and plush. It was fun. At one point, I threw a Boxxer Ride on it, that was fun for a bit.

So whats the story with shock bushings if you choose to use something from your own inventory. I have a Fox DHX Air 5.0 and while the front bushing fits great the rear is lacking about 5/16 on each side. I have been trying to contact Soul but no luck.

I got ahold of Soul a couple of days ago, and I must say, not many people understand customer service anymore; however, Soul Cycles has shown me that good business practices are still out there. Not only were they quick to help my situation, they gave me the bushings for free with no shipping costs. If you are in the market and these guys are remotely on your list, please take a second gander at their line-up. Atleast you know that what ever happens to your new steed, the manufacture won't give you the quick okie dokie brush-off like some of the big boys.
