Glad to see the excitement about the series; promises to be a great one for sure. Visit http://www.skibeech.com to read the press release for the series. Trail pictures, helmet cam video, race flyer, etc are in process. All of this will be posted as it happens.

To answer a few questions:
One new course is being built for all race categories, but it will have "Pro lines" throughout to offer quick, difficult lines. The main line of the course is suitable for beginners and intermidiates, but should be fun for experts and pros alike.

Plenty of lodging is available on Beech Mtn including hotel rooms, condos and homes. Best deals for lodging will be posted here.

Dual slalom is not scheduled for the series. Perhaps in the future.

Thanks for the positive comments!

You mentioned all categories so are there going to be age classes in these races or is it beginner/expert/pro kind of thing. Sorry if it's a noob question but I've never raced before.

The Triple Crown Series will offer three race categories to competitors:
Beginner - for first timers
Amateur - for sport level riders
Pro - for expert and pro level riders only

Beginner and Amateurs categories will be divided by age, IF appropriate. The pro class will NOT be divided by age.

No licenses will be required to race! Beginner and Amateur competitors will race for merchandise; Pros race for cash and swagger.

Sounds good to me...I've got school but I still ride everyday weather permitting.

After a soggy few weeks on the mountain, the track is coming alive! The trail crew will be working on the track this coming weekend. Construction pictures will be taken along with some video of riding a few woods sections - all media efforts have been futile to this point; last week three snow storms hit the slopes in a single day and visibility was zero.

Anyone interested in volunteering for the series can submit requests to
mbrp07@yahoo.com.

Thanks

Really looking forward for this. This would be my first downhill race ever, actually first time on a real downhill course. But gettin out there would be awesome and i bet the atmosphere would be crazy to be around all these other level of riders.

SO STOKED.

Here's a couple of construction shots Ryan sent me of a woods section mid-way down the mountain. This area has some HUGE rocks! I felt like I was gonna get crushed tipping over some of the big ones.

The pointy rock above will be a pretty sweet optional line that will be fast/sketchy. Hope to get out there again soon!

Question??? Will there be lift access riding this summer aside from racing?:D:D
There will no riding at Beech Mountain other than during the Triple Crown Series this year. I am working with the resort to try and open a mountain bike park which would use the quad chairlift, begining June 2010.

Based in large part on the 2009 Triple Crown Series' attendance and success, a decision could be made to open a park.

I don't want to race, but would be willing to pay the entry fee to practice and not taking the race run.

Are you cool with that ?

Can't wait I hope to make it to all of them. Might even talk some of the guys I used to ride/race with back in the day (way back) into coming. I've got a new Freeride bike coming in a week.

Yes, you are correct. There may be one race at Wolf Ridge this year, but it is not scheduled yet.

The second race of the Triple Crown Series has been moved from August 1-2 to August 8-9, 2009. The race date was changed due to a conflicting event at the resort, but this does allow for a weekend off after the Snowshoe race in July.

Trail work is going very well, thanks to sunny skies during the past few days. A nice berm to step-down to step-down was built today. A natural rock tabletop was prepped as well, and it is situated directly under the lift for great observation.

Also, the race website will be live soon, and it will offer race schedules, pre-registration and galleries. More construction pictures will be posted soon.

Sweet! You finished that berm double step down? That feature looked like a lot of fun. Have you had a chance to de-stump and ride that section we built sunday?

The Bird is going well as well.

I have not yet ridden the top and am holding off until the track is cut-in down to the second ski slope section (after the road crossing and rock gardens). The berm to double stepdown is going to be so much fun!...followed by several tough turns to get lined up for the run-in to the rock table.

This is going to be a fun series! This past tuesday, I went to the mountain and helped out with the course. Some of the highlights from the day were; a berm into a large step-down (with a good go around), and there is a great boulder table that we are building up dirt on one side so you can jump onto the table and about a 3 foot drop on the other side. There is a line that goes around the rock as well but it will still be a nice challenge! Its looking awesome! It's going to be a good course for all skill levels. There are great lines for you guys who want to huck the gnar, and good lines for people who want to take less risk, without gaining an insane amount of time. Beech Mountain Triple Crown Series is where it's at!

The more i read whats going the more i get stoked to race. This will be my first ever race and i was wondering how the ranking system will work like the pro, intermediate and beginners levels, and how that will be when racing.

Just got back from doing some trail work and riding on the upper half of the course and i must say this is going to be one fun course! It offers anything you would ever want in a downhill race: fast, open, tight, technical, steep, and sketchy. As time goes on the course will become faster and faster and it is already fast, so it has a lot of potential. Special thanks to ryan for shuttling us today!

sounds sick Tbird! Beech is a hell of a mountain, and from the sound of things ryan's course is gonna showcase all it has to offer. Keep up the good work, and enjoy the track testing!

We had a crew of about 8 Atl folks up this weekend. We work on the trail with Ryan for about 6 hrs. Got the last stepdown/sender take off done, landing needs a couple of bucket loads of dirt, which Ryan will get. Trail was otherwise finished top to bottom. We got about 7 ish runs in with 10-15 people and trail is wearing in nice so far. Trail was a blast to ride and will have alittle bit of everything. You will not be disappointed in making the races this year. Besides the trail, the town is great.

some pics were taken, so hopefully Ryan will have them up soon.
