Faith's have always been a good DH race bike on the cheap. Looks like they're goin specifically FR with this one but alot of people are still riding (and racing) the 05-07 curvy framed model, well I still am at least lol.

The new 2010 giants are definatly visually representitive of the 7point and Sunday DW link series, it'll be interesting to see how they actually ride tho.

hey do me a favor and look at the trance x, reign 0 and so on...

how come no one ever relizes the new '10 glory looks like these frame models?? the new glory is just a bigger verison of these bikes... but with crazy sexy hydroformed tubes to keepin weight down and adding stiffness and strength.

Yuroshek has it right. They are using similar design aspects of the Trance X and Reign.

The pictured bike is a proto. I know the guy that took the photo rather well ;)

Uncle Cliffy is also right. That is Kurt's bike, he is small and the bike is a small. The Team is sponsored by fizik so he is running the freek saddle. The styling of the freek saddle is certainly love/hate...

The bike is sick in person. Can't wait to see how the production ones turn out.

Nope...

Still not seeing it.

Okay maybe a little.

lol don't worry maynneeeee I'm not be hatin' on dat giant for being visually similar, I could care less but it's not just me saying it so you better load up on more pictures and pamphlet's when those bigger bike's come out to remind people of their smaller siblings and not the rides from IHBC.

I agree with the frame design. It just looks like they brought back the faith name and that's about it.

What I want to know is; why are FR bikes etc so often thrown in the DH section of Monkey
Surely that thing belongs in the FR / AM section

Ah, it's a Zea:k not a freek.. I had the freak for a bit.. I guess it could look huge on a small bike, that would make sense..

Feels like for the last couple of years Giants lineup have all been variable travel/geo versions of the same exact linkage. The reign was a longer travel trance, the glory FR was a longer travel reign, and the glory dh was a long travel, dh race geometry glory FR.

Now they've changed the execution of their suspension system (no more glory hole), but the basic idea seems the same, have all their FS bikes on the same suspension platform, like Kona or IH.

The way they set up their line of bikes is similar but I don't think the old maestro bikes looked like IH bikes and I don't think these do either.

if i remember correctly kurts bike weighed in at 33lbs? i forget what the mechanic told me at sea otter.... i felt it and that front end was way heavy, throw a different fork on there and it would be legit!

I rode a Faith last year set up like a DH bike, dual crown fork and the links flipped. It did just fine. This one does look more FR though.

I road my friend's Sunday and the bikes did feel similar over rocks and sharp hits, but they pedal different. And the Sunday had slacker lower feel to it. I could get the head angle on mine similar but it pushed the bike up higher. Almost like the Sunday was a DH bike and the Faith was FR:huh:

I never measured the BB height, but here's a pic of it.

:poster_oops:
haha- you are right. I guess I ignored the name since I personally disliked it's appearance. Anyway it's all good. I hear it feels real good and when I rolled around on the bike the seat didn't feel bad. Maybe if I could do super seaters like Kurt I'd be super stoked on it.

...faiths are substantially slacker than sundays. Depending on the size, lower, too.

My large faith headtube angle (with a low stack headset and a 8'' boxxer slammed) was 63.5 with the flipped links. About 13.9 bb, but the smaller sizes get a shorter headtube which lowers that a little. This geometry was only available recently on the new crop of race bikes that are coming out.

My roomate has a size small faith, about the same HA with flipped links. Funny how people got all pumped on the glory, which was heavier, higher BB, and waaay steeper.

Interestingly enough, in a cost-saving maneuver giant produced all 3 sized faiths identical, fit wise. The only differences between the 3 sizes were the hydroformed seatmast assemblies and headtube lengths, which became lower and shorter with each smaller size. Downtube lengths are identical on all 3 sizes, giving each size the same front center and overall wheelbase.

Maybe the new faith will be a better race bike than the 2010 glory's, if history repeats itself...but probably not.

Ithnu - Yea I agree the Faith makes a great DH bike, I have mine setup for racing, and without the links flipped it's slack enough for East Coast racing, when I flip them it's a lil too chopped out. It's funny you compare it to a Sunday, My buddy on a Sunday always says the faith is better through harsh rock gardens, and I defiantly agree, but when your on the correct line through a rock garden the Sunday rips a little bit better. What's weird (when thinking in RM logic) is that the faith has quite possibly the opposite of what's thought of as a good axle path for mowing rocks, It's IC is low and around the BB most of the travel, compared to the high pivot monsters out there people worship for mowing rocks. The faith doesn't really touch the Sunday on pedaling however, and it's BB is noticeably higher as well as the cockpit is more "scrunched", but for the price you can get one these days it's a killer bike once you throw a boxxer on it.

Yea Natedog - Amiel Cavalier hit the Jr X WC scene on a Faith, and mowed with it.

After cracking my original Faith I now have a 07 Warranty frame.... Different in almost everyway to the original 05/06 Faith frame. Its a great rame for DH and freeride. Giant is just playing the marketing game........change the name to Glory 8 so the people who need a name frame every year can justify it. Now tjhey are changing it back for the same reason. The concept of the Faith hasn't changed, just the name. The Original faith is a much better bike then the Glory 8.......It is lighter, lower and adjustable. If they can bring the new Faith in at under 10 pounds with a shock, but maintain the strength then they have made progress.

Well, I got my new Decline today with an article about Kurts prototype. The posted geometrys for every size... One of the cool features of the bike is the dropouts. There are 2 different length versions to change the bikes geometry slightly. This is very cool IMO.

Here are the important numbers:

Head Angle: 66.75/66
Seat Angle (Eff.) 69/68.25
BB Drop: -0.86/-0.62
CS length: 17.4"/17.51"

Running some quick numbers with a 2.5 Minion would yield a 14.15 or 13.9 BB height. I'm a fan of slightly shorter stays for a FR bike, but the other numbers look dialed!
