What is everybody running for grips? I have a set of lock-on clamps leftover from my last bike, but I hate the feeling of the thick plastic beneath the rubber. I'm debating going with a ruffian MX, but I'd rather get something that has a little more cushioning for high-speed-vibe absorption.

I had my eye on RavX Density X Lock, which despite the lame name, is a neat grip. It's got dual locking collars and is half-plastic and half just rubber, so where you actually grab the bar, or where your palm is rather, is all rubber to the bar, vs. rubber then plastic. Are there any alternatives?

I've got the Ruffian MX on my DH bike and Ourys on pretty much everything else.

Use to like the Scott Hurricanes but haven't seen those in a while.

check out the odi cross trainers or whatever they are called, i was with you and didnt want the hard plastic feel anymore, but oury style is way to much. I just mounted up the cross trainers and they are exactly what you are looking for.

Ruffian MXs are pretty incredible, I have had a really good experience with them. On NSMB, I saw one of the guys with road tape for grips, never seen it on DH, kind of got me thinking...

I dig the Oury's, but I've been using the Sunline Logo grips - my favorite now. Definitely reduce arm pump and I like the thicker grip.

Plus, I really like Sunline's lock on system, never loosens up on me. Cheaper too.

Sunline Logo Lock-on grips, thin version. So far they seem to be better then my stock RMB grips. Clean looking too.

ODI Rouges are perfect for me....not sure if your hands are large enough for them though (they're pretty big around)....but as far as cushy grips to absorb some vibes go, these are the tits! they have a lot of grippy rubber between the plastic sleeve underneath, and your hands....I'll never use anything besides these....on any bike between trials, and downhill....

these are some of the fatter grips ive ever used, so they inherently have thicker and cushier rubber.....

How exactly does Sunline's system work? I cheaped out and bought Sette lock ons and they slip like mad. I have been thinking of switching to Sunlines

I found the rubber on the Sunlines grips peels off really easily, although they did feel pretty good.

I'm back to Ruffians for now, but I might try something a bit thicker like Sunlines again.

Yeah I put a ton of holes in my sunlines, then again I do that to a lot of grips.

Ruffians were too thin.
Oury were too thick.
North Shore were right in between and perfect.

I wear a medium glove.

Ya I don't know how I feel about it, I don't think it would be very bump resistant. I just can't imagine it feeling good. Won't know 'til someone chimes in.

Lock on grips are a god-send when you live in an area with so much rain. I also prefer something with some hand traction.

Rogues, ourys Yetis and the like are too big for me with a pretty standard size large glove/hand. I feel as if I need to grip harder to make up for the loss of hand wrap on the large grips.

I like the size of the ruffians but they do not have much cushion and are pretty slick when worn.

My current favorites are the ODI intense model. They have a bit more palm/ulnar cush from the logo (when compared to the ruffians) that is also curved from pinky to first finger (like the ergons) to be more anatomically correct....are nice and thin....and have old school moto type waffle traction on the finger side. Essentially thicker where you want some cush, thinner where there is no need for cushion, and great finger traction for wet/mud or just end of the day tired hands...

ODI Rogue.

Tried the Sunline grips, and they feel OK (the thick version).
Unfortunately, the bar-end clamping mechanism is inferior to ODI's lock-ring.

Have you tried the North Shore? I use to run the Intense too and they just wore too quick. Then you had to have your hand just right for them to feel good. The Shores are the same thickness and last a lot longer.
