I am going to be out for a wedding June 13th-21st. I plan to bring A bike (not sure if it will be my T1 or my Tonic. I would love to ride some DJs or parks, just wondering what I will find in the area. On that same note, are there any Monkeys in the area that would show a guy around?

Thanks a ton.

Downtown Denver:

One of my old bmx buddies that lives in Denver doesn't like it much though because the surface is really slick. He says it's VERY easy to wash out. (This is coming from a rad rider who used to do truckdrivers and backflips over spines....) So put on the stickiest tires you can find.

colorado is probably one of the best place for skateparks in the country (next to oregon). you'll have plenty to choose from!

if you have time, i recommend:
boulder (best in mornings before crowds) (hit louisville on the way back to denver...fun for an hour)
longmont / sandstone (variety of everything)
redstone (which joel posted above, good variety)
commerce city / pioneer park (ghetto atmosphere, but killer/steep bowl with capsule, street stuff is slipper/dusty/small/random. bowl is almost never used, so probably trash/needles in it : )
greenwood village (super fun, but i think bikes are technically not allowed)
parker / rail bender (new, pretty rad, but busy often)

If you want to head up to the mountains, Winter Park has a super fun skatepark, plus you can check out the crankworx slopestyle course construction. Just down the road from WP (5 miles) is a nice dj park with multiple lines and a DS course and pump track as well.

If I were you, I'd prolly bring the Tonic... just because I've never seen one. :)

Thanks guys, I knew you would come through :-)

When we were taking Ty Stuyvesant and Vic Murphy back to the airport after JoMo I kinda picked their brains and they said the same thing about the Denver park being really slick (and Vic really isn't one to get to knarly in the current day sense). Personally I would be much more psyched on hitting up some trails, Joe, we will need to talk.

BTW, Joe, are you working at Winterpark this year? I am assuming so, I would love to come up for a day and check things out. Let me know when your around if your down for it.

Oh, any pics of the DJ park or other trails?

t1maglio, bring both bikes.
Ya, I checked on United to see how much it would cost NOT to sneak my bike on, it was over $100. I plan to either ship it out ahead of time or sneak it some way. I'm not sure how well the 24" will work for that, we had the 20" bikes down for how to get them through back in the day, the bigger wheels might not be so easy.

In a demo Tent near you...
I use FedEx Ground...they are a little nicer to bikes. It really depends on how much the bike weighs an how much insurance you are putting on it. You should add about 6 lbs. for the packaging and box. PM me and I'll try to get you a quote.

Send me your zip code too.

You just need one of these.

It'll fit your bike no problem. I know guys using it for 26 without getting charged.

Winter Park for jump trails (the new jump trail the Whistler dudes built will be off the hook), Keystone for the tech/gnar/rocks, Sol Vista for the high speed loose race stuff. All of those places within an hour and a half from Denver. WP/Sol Vista are right down the road from each other and WP has a sick concrete park in town...

Well, since I'm just going to have a MTBMX or a BMX doing knarly stuff is probably not in my scope, but if there are more mellow trails up at Winter Park I would be down for it. How far a drive is it going that direction? If anyone wants to meet up and go for a day it would be rad, but otherwise I can probably figure something out. I'm still a month out on this, but if people are just hanging out and want to ride ...

if you ride much street there is sick stuff all over denver. one section under I25 near the stock arena there is a ton of banks to walls of all kinds. also a good wallride near the denver skatepark, and a tight tranny brick vert wall/quarterpipe dealie.

Southwest Airlines..... Austin --> Denver round trip TOTAL = $159 !!

14-day advance purchase required. Purchase by May 21, 2009, 11:59 pm Pacific Time. Travel through October 28, 2009. Travel valid only on Tuesday & Wednesday.

So, does anyone know of any particular events going on this summer in CO ?

Crankworx, Winter Park, July 30 - Aug 2nd would obviously be rad. Anything else? Even low key would be cool.

made it to CO last week.

Rode one day Vail, one day Keystone, and one day Winter Park.

Stoked to get to try out some DH bikes:

Trek Session:

Scott Voltage FR 10:

All three were rad, but the SCOTT felt the best. Not sure if it was the geo or the tuning on FOX suspension/shock, but the smoothness and responsiveness were amazing--I definitely jumped better on the Scott.

Some pics from Keystone:
