Decisions, decisions..
I am in the midst of a freshie build up and find myslef stuck in a rear hub quandry. My entry into SS; my old Soulcraft Opt. 3 w/ convert, spacers and all, has served me well. Should I decide that the "ol' trusty" might someday return to the geared world as the new stead replaces it's single gear stardom it will be an easy transition. My question is this...should the newbie ride get a dedicated SS rear end? To add to the quagmire I am sitting on a new Halo Freedom disc wheelset that I just couldn't pass on. Do I dare pull the cassette ready in favor of a single speed hub or continue to live my life spaced out? Thoughts, rants and raves much appreciated.

i really prefer having less dish. and the longevity of my current rear is a testament to the benefits. Plus with the better designs you get wider flange spacing, a significant factor in lateral wheel stiffness. Some people think that makes no difference, but land hard off axis and well...
Obviously you be rollin' correct, on sum dedicated ss hubage. So there's that.
Also the cog looks like less of an orphan.

My hub and new built wheel .....a Phil woods kiss off with a Mavic rim is gonna be here in a week. You get fired up with a true SS setup. The eno freewheels go up to 22T if needed....just look at the 22 as your easiest escape route and keep the gearie parts in the garage......in a box ....... where they belong. Just my 2 cents.
