Any 7 springs vets out there?
Hitting up 7 springs this weekend for the first time and I have two questions.
1) what bike? I looked at the vids and it seems like they are all riding trail type rigs. To maximize the fun factor should I bring my full DH race rig or my 5" trail/Super D bike?
2) Places for apres bike? Any cool places to grab a beer etc. after the ride? I am staying in the main lodge/hotel

Thanks for the help!

1. Is the new side open? Not sure whats back there but if the rumors are true you might want your dh. For everything currently in existence your 5" bike will be plenty.

2. Yup right at the lodge.

A full-on DH sled isn't too much, but a trail bike is plenty. Most of the trails are groomed.

No good beer to be found, but there is beer and food at a couple places in the lodge. Not sure when it's open, but when I was there last year, there was an outside bar by the pool that was nice. Besides that, there was a stale smoke smelling lounge on the second or third floor inside.

You want the bike that will pop off the jumps better. A Dh bike is fun there too.

The trails are full of tables, doubles and berms. Think BMX track. There's a few tech sections, and hopefully some new trails this season.

I always ride my DH/FR bike there. Unless your trail bike has DH geo, I would bring the DH bike. Everything is certainly rideable on a trail bike, but I feel more confident and go faster on a DH bike. My trail bike (Yeti 575) doesn't instill confidence on 20+ foot tabletops.

Philly, sort of
1. I have ridden a Red Line Monocog Flight and a Transition Covert there. The Covert was much more fun. I would say the average travel there is 5 and the biggest I have seen was 8.

2. Dude go into to town, it is a train wreck worth seeing. Hoss's is the best meal in town (no really I mean it and it is actually pretty good) and go hassle the waitress's at the Ruby Tuesdays just of the turn pike. I also suggest not staying at the mountain. Rock the Super 8, or whatever it is that is on the right next to the Arby's or the exit.

Oh and I am being serious about all of question 2. My crew makes an event of it every year.
