Roxi's not so happy memorial day surprise

Even with a face full of quills she wanted to get that thing out of the tree.

The porcupine also devoured our cooler and gnawed on our beer. thank god for glass.

Dayum. That sucks. I was just talking to my fiance about that. I had my dogs out for a ride a few days ago and saw a skunk. Luckily they didn't see it. We were just thinking that dealing with the skunk would be a lot better than dealing with the Porcupine quills. Poor dog.

So how's Roxi doing? More importantly, what kind of beer did the porcupine get at?
She is fine. It took about 5 minutes to get them all out with a leatherman. She isn't even swollen. I think he got her with his tail. The quills were actually pretty soft. All of them came out no problem.

The porcupine was trying to get into a New Glarus Totally Naked, lager they just put out. It's pretty good, for a lager.

Leashes are unnatural-BTW.
Yes, but they prevent your dog from getting into trash, eating said trash, and the drizzle that sprays from their behinds after.

Leashes ain't all bad.

TN and I have an ongoing disagreement on when leashes are necessary. When you are sharing a campsite with a porcupine: Necessary.

My own world inside my head
My local hiking/riding trails are fun places to be. BUT, if you take your dog, you had better have it on a leash if you love your dog. Between rattlesnakes and Mtn lions, you just might find yourself having to pull the pooch back in a hurry. More than a few people have been walking there dogs up on the fire road off the leash, only to come around the corner where the dog had just walked arond to see a mising dog, and some very trampled weeds were the Mtnlion grabbed there pooch and drug it off the trail. Not much to say about the rattlesnakes though, pretty self explanitory.
