Hey Everyone,

I'm going to be getting me a new freeride rig but am completely stuck on what to buy. I defintely do not want to mess with building a bike up, and plus buying complete is alot cheaper. I'm looking for something with 7 or more inches of travel and a single crown fork.

What are my options?

And also, I want to keep the price under or right around 3100.

Thanks,

Austin

Cannondale Perp. Have one and love it. Made in the USA and has a great groupo for the price. They come in three versions. The perp 2 is right at your price and an excellent setup for the price. buy and you will not only be supported by an excellent warranty but you will love the bike.

nope. no bearing problems and am going on two seasons now of hard freeride, a couple of DH events, and even a few XC rides (I know but its the closest thing I have to a trail bike).

The 2008 Perp 2 came out at 41.5 lbs outta the box. Got it down to 40 with brakes, saddle, pedals, e-13 drs instead of whatever it is they use, and ghetto tubeless.

Initial build... she sits a little different now. Also much dirtier. White is never the same no matter how hard you clean. :-)

Perp is a good bike for sure, but cannondale is now in tiawan (or some other equivelent) I have a bighit spec for sale if interested, its 6 inches of travel but itl take a beating. I do agree with the perp though.

Look at the Mongoose stuff - not the Sprawl-Mart crap, but the upper end ones. There are TONS of great bikes out there. Don't know what the Giant Glory FR is going for. Demo 7? (SXT is a better bike though.) Transition Dirtbag? Just look around.

Cannondale Perp 2 and the Jamis Dakar Bam 1

I know the Jamis is more expensive, but the component upgrades over the perp seem worth it?
I would stay away from the perp, I test rode one and those 19 inch chainstays do not like to change direction. 2nd checking out the mongooses, jamis is also supposed to have good stuff.
