Sick.

They won't need to hang buckets up for the leaky roof in that section.

It'll be interesting to see how the dirt holds up being indoors. Can't wait to get out there and see/ride this in person at some point.

If you look up high on those walls you will see a bunch of windows. What you can't tell is that they are all smashed out... The good news is that massive amounts of cool air with be coming in the door/voids where the trains used to come in and then the hot air will be exiting the smashed out windows 20 to 30' up.

So it will have some of the outdoor conditions.

They have hoses...

The mastermind behind the trails really knows what he is doing. He is actually very smart for only being 23... I am sure the place will be byzantine with drainage and sprinkler/hose systems.

I think the summer deal is just this summer. I think the DJ area will be open when the regular park opens again.

The dirt room will be open this spring summer and fall. The main park will open back up this fall... the dirt room will stay open for a few weeks after that... so there will be some overlap.

whats the point off all the dirt if its gonna have tables? i hope theres sum dubs in there
Safety.

The reality is people... come out to Rays and get jacked up. You have no idea how many bad accidents I have seen there. Yes it is their fault. Yes tables make it safer and in a lawsuit that mitigates mucho risk for ray.

If the weekend warriors stayed away dubs would be just fine.

^^ all true.

same goes for public dirt jumps. the ones in queens ny have camel backed landings so at least it feels more like a dub but still safe like a table.

Does the cool factor go down if they are tables instead of doubles? If you go from takeoff lip to landing what difference does it make what is in between?
you sure have a point, but the fear factor is there.. I could jump higher and longer tables first, but the kick and feeling of achievement from getting a double of even lesser size beats the **** out of jumping the tables.
still tables are needed for learning, plus you can't manual a double can you

My first thought was durability although safety is a big factor too. I've seen what can happen to a real nice lip (and landing) when trying to be ridden by someone who doesn't know how to. At a place like Ray's, some nice dubs might last a week or 2 before they were tracked out.

I like the looks of how the place is going together. My guess is those rollers and berms will be the funnest thing to ride. Can't wait to see how everything integrates.

Finally.

A winter trip to ray's makes sense now. :)

Before I actually knew what it was I assumed it was an indoor dirt park. When I found out it was just a bike specific skate park it did not seem like the "cool place" everyone makes it out to be. Maybe I'm wrong, but what's so exciting about an indoor skatepark for bikes?

Yeah, I know what you mean.

I think its awsome, but for me personally I don't care if I never go there. I think its a 6hr drive from where I live and I have friends that drive there almost every weekend in the winter. They are allways on me to go but I'm not really into sitting in the car for 12hrs total to ride my bike, I can do a lot of stuff in 12hrs.

The other thing is, for me 1/2 the fun is being in the woods building trail and 1/2 the fun is riding it. Being in a warehouse with a bunch of yahoos would take some of the fun out of it ;)

I don't want to sound all negative on it though, I really do think its awsome. Its great that he has taken his dream and made it a reality and provided good times for so many people, that part is really cool.

wooden trails that flow really well, riding in t-shirts in the winter. winters can be tough on the east coast. rays is something i look foward to. there's a skatepark inside but i wouldn't call the whole facility a skatepark. there's more to it.

Rays is far from a skate park. It is an indoor MTB park. It has an appeal for every rider: Pump track, flowy wooden DJ, XC stuff, a complete park section, foam pit, ramps galore, etc. Now the dirt DJ section. Really amazing.

Unless you have been there you can't understand it. The place rules. I drove 13 hours one way and spent the weekend. It was amazing.

It would be cool if they added some other features like wooden on off ramps, wooden wallrides, quarters, drops... basicly like mini slopestyle stuff mixed in (but not gay xc training type stuff). Since they obviously have the recources. But I like where this is going, reminds me a lot of my local dirt park -lots of table berms and rollers. Overall its fun to just flow though and even throw some small tricks. THye should keep it open all year round.

It is gonna open this coming Friday the 29th. They just need to build a berm/wallride at the end of all the runs... it is tight. They really build as much as possible!

Hey we are here in Cleveland. During the cold war they put icbm's here because of all the natural cloud cover... hide from survailence etc... The weather sucks, the river ... not the ohio river but Cleveland's river has even been on fire! The goverment is so backwards they still favor horse riding... not over bike riding... but at the expense of bike riding. We got Rays and chenga...

Just ride it for a few hours. It is actually very cool... better than I expected. The weather was perfect today (for most of the day) and I thought shouldn't I be outside riding?!...but then I was reminded I am in Cleveland as it started to rain very very hard for a good hour... and I was able to keep riding beautiful bowls, hips and sculpted DJ's inside perfectly dry! There is a patio with a gas grill... man this is my new 2nd home this summer.

Bryce- You really can't fathom the amount of space Ray has taken up in the beat down industrial park. It's got a little bit of everything and a lot of some things.

It's easy to get lost your first time there and I'm positive you'd find a few places to eject your bike. It's way more than a skatepark for bikes. the dirt park is a new addition and having met the guys that help him build the stuff and knowing Ray. They will push the limits and make sure newb's and pros will have fun and challenges.

Well worth the trip from anywhere in the US. There is a reason a bunch of pro's go there every winter, and RideBMX has named it "park of the year" before....
