Hey guys, i was checkin out Sicklines.com and found a link to pics of the new 2010 Commencal Lineup http://www.commencal.com/news/spy_shots.htm
on their own page so there's not much SPY about it but its cool to get a view of the new paintjobs...i think the only new bike for 2010 is the absolute sx, but im not sure.

i'm still waiting for my 09 supreme dh to arrive and they're already rolling out next years model..oh well

When did Commencal start making the bottle rocket? Well, they did bend the seat tube and add a concentric bb pivot..

ya they still have a bit shy of a full eight inches lol with only 200mm=7.87401575 inches of rear travel. Not that I can complain because with the whole "contact system" comprised of the "rocker link and single pivot link systems" its pretty buttery...
in fact even the previous years models which I rode for almost 2 years prior to the 09 stuff with 180mm of travel was pretty buttery.
good stuff:cheers:

Correct, 2009 is the first year they bumped up the travel, for consumer market anyway. I guess they are very much of the "quality over quantity" mindset when it comes to rear wheel travel.
With the complains many customers have about their frames quality I seriously doubt that. Commencal are for me - good design, bad execution and french customer service if you see the pattern there ;)

not much info up there. i know there was an article on dirt with the athertons bikes, the designer was saying that for 09 they just testing out the design, and in 2010 they will refine and drop the weight a bit. no mention if that is actually going to happen?

what kinda complaints? my frame quality seems good, welds look uniform, and paint is durable. no hit of slop after 1.5yrs of riding with the occasional case and crash.
I've seen a lot of complains about the susp area being loose plus the fact that they had to make it extra heavy to be more durable than the -08 models had. It's not much and I detail whore but I wouldn't call them a quality company. They go for quantity and recently they seem to be going in the direction giant went with the old glory (ok finish and making the frame extra heavy to limit the issues).

No complaints about my Absolut VIP frame. I'd buy another Commencal in an instant.

I have been riding a 09 supreme DH for 2~3 months now. A friend of mine has one for 4~5 months. In the beginning some of the links came loose a couple of times. But now they all stay fixed.

After having ridden a Socom that was pretty lightweight. I prefer to have a bit heavier bike if that also means it is more durable (hint at the session88).
Also the quality of the weld based on visual inspection is just as good if not better then a Intense. I would even dare to say that the engineering/construction of the commencal is better then my old intense.
(I am comparing it to intense because I have first hand experience with them and people seem to look at it as a good quality boutique brand)

I heavent dealt with Commencal about any warranty queries so cant comment on that. But I do agree that French people are somewhat difficult to work with.

And the contact link works amazing (especially compared to the wacky vpp that is on the socom)

A friend that wanted to buy my current frame waited ages for his warranty and the whole proces of accepting it or not took very long and seemed really shady. I'd like to see commencal make the supreme dh in around 5kg with shock without the issues that older frames had (ie. some of them did crack)

Got an email from commencal about the absolut sx yesterday:

I know this is the dh forum, so probably won't be of much interest to a lot of you.. I'm actually a bit impressed with the absolut sx after looking at the spec sheets and stuff. At first glance, I thought it was just a Commencal's version of the transition double.. Not entirely the case, it's got 140mm of travel, tapered head tube, 7.875x2.25" shock(pretty low 2.5 leverage ratio), which u can run a coil/reservoir air shock, and bb-pivot(nice for those that want to keep in ss). Def. a cool little bike..

Info and specs are here:

The main pivot actually really changes the basic suspension design (suspension design isn't just how the shock is activated).

Cocentric bb/main pivot changes the wheel path - which affects how it will ride.

I'd be willing the bet the overall geometry is noticably different - which will affect how it rides. Anyone have numbers for it yet?

So yes, its a bike copy because the shock stroke and travel are the same, and it has a similar shock activation. Right.

here's the geo:

less slack than a BR at first glance.. but geometry is based on a 100mm travel fork..

have they figured out how to make frames that don't crack yet? seriously loved my meta6, but after 2 cracked main frames and a crack riddled swingarm in less than a year, plus waiting over 2.5 months on warrenties, I'll give them a pass thanks......damn shame, cause when they aren't cracked, they are amazing riding bikes.....get your heads out of your asses commencal
