Why is Freecaster...

Constantly so god damn slow???

Is it just me? I can't work out why. I can stream live off pretty much everything else I watch with zero lag, our net connection pulls constantly at approx 8meg, yet watching Freecaster is bordering on impossible. Picture freeze, droppped stream, speach out of sync with the picture, the lot...

It's not just the live stuff, I gave up on watching the 4X yesterday and was going to watch the re-runs today, but waiting nearly 15 minutes to let a 2 minute video buffer is madness!

Does anyone else suffer from this? I've never had problems in the past?

do a tracert on play.freecaster.com and look how many hops your connection does. maybe the server is too far away from you

mine looks like this and plays smooth:

Code:
tracert play.freecaster.com

Routenverfolgung zu a137.g.akamai.net [194.221.64.56] über maximal 30 Abschnitt
e:

  3 65 ms 76 ms 49 ms f-ea3-i.F.DE.NET.DTAG.DE [62.154.17.54]

the site is fine speed wise.. traceroutes to ovh.net which is a popular server provider here in france but not great at distributing lots of data unless its local traffic, takes 7 hops there anyway..

its loading videos whats slow, real slow

It worked fine to me up until just after Fort Bill. I was enjoying being able to watch the full replays for the previous races (didn't want to wake up at some ungodly hour to watch cause i'm lazy), but after Fort Bill everything on the sight just took ages to load, and forget about the full replay.

I get the same problem - live feeds usually work fine (drops every 10-15 mins tho) but I can't watch any re-runs.

I also think the way the videos are 'organised' is a complete mess! It's almost impossible to find re-runs from a specific race. Why not organise the videos by event?

yeah. freecaster is super inconsistent. It runs fine sometimes, but is slow most of the time. In fact, looks like their hits on the videos is starting to go down. they should get that fixed asap! I hardly go on their anymore. dirt tv is better, now if they could just get a live feed that would kick ass for next year!
(went on vacation and a brand new mac with a high speed connection on the other side of the country still had issues with freecaster, so I know it's not my computer at home)

What a bunch of bastards they are at freecaster. I mean they provide those who cannot go to a World Cup a means of watching the racing live!

For free!

What a bunch of arseholes.

Then they go and provide reruns of the race for those who can't view it at the time.

For free! Again!

Wankers. The lot of them!

Hopefully their hard work will pay off and not be undermined by the simple fact that we can't watch the content half the time. Or at least I can't, or 5 random people I was talking to at the shop, or....... lol.
