Thinking about planing a trip to Crankworx this year, I'm wondering what the riding is like in the park during the festival?

Any Info would be great.
Thanks

Busy. Crowded.

But seriously, the lift lines are huge, particularly the weekend of the slopestyle. It's a cool atmosphere, obviously the events are pretty awesome to see, and it's a good time to hang out in the park with your buddies, but if you're looking to come and get tons of laps in, avoid Crankworks.

Riding the week of Crankworx is a pain I have heard. Like ted said the festival is a blast but not supreme Whistler riding.

The week or two before Crankworx can be pretty cool sometimes. Not quite as many people and a lot of big name pros are showing up for the contests, besides the ones that are already there.

Riding during Crankworx isnt that bad, if you avoid riding a-line and all those "oooh my god dad, thats the trail from that movie... i've got to ride it!"-trails at the lower mountain.
so, stay on garbanzo allday and you will have empty trails.

i have done it before and will be doing it again this year, it is way less crowded than you expect because it is a big mountain. The village is packed but that makes it fun...

The trails are in great shape if you do most of your riding early week. Only real downside is 1 or 2 trails are closed each day but the mountain has so many trails just ride other stuff.

We are riding the bike park sunday-wed this year then doing some alpine outside the park stuff the rest of the week...

id go

I like the idea of big groups. The wait sucks but I get pushed further than usual. Maybe I'll try starting mid week, so I can group ride catch the open and slopestyle and then get a little quite time later in the week after all the craziness has subsided.

I love that the people who have no clue always say it's insane and to stay away....yeah, it's busier than normal, it's a freaking festival! but it really isn't that bad....the village is a gong show but the mountain is good....bands, parties, races, it's really good times

When I was there before CWorx 08 (my first time so I don't have anything to compare to) the lines didn't seem bad at all, and even during the first few days the lines were just fine (If you don't mind getting split up the singles line is your friend). To me, the buzz of the festival, the events, and the pros make up for longer lines manyfold.

Did I miss where he specified wether this is about Whistler or Colorado?By all the responses I take it is about Whistler. One question, are you planning on one week, two weeks or some other length? If you can make it for two you will get the best of both. One thing I missed out on last year was the Canadian Open(Last day of event Sunday).I don't know this years schedule.Another interesting thing is a lot of the teams and manufactures hang around after for a few days and do alot of testing on the lastest new secret products. You might want to look at the schedule see what events you want to see.Plan your trip around that and maybe a day or two before or after the event. But to answer you ?'s the lines are long but you will still get in more riding then you can handle. Its a great event that should not be missed.

^^ Canadian Open is the last Sunday again this year. I know they want to have two weekends of events, but it means an eight-night stay if you want to enter all three races. Wish they'd back-load it a little more.
