a) sponsored by Manitou

or

b) not able to write more than two or three words about the fork's performance

Seriously, I have no intention of slapping the fork. But with every other new product people on here manage to write up some serious comparison between the new product and a product that many know. Have not seen a rather unbiased writeup of the new Dorado yet. And I am really curious because I liked the old ones.

i have been a huge manitou fan for a long time ...i have ridden manitou for 10 yrs or more now. the new dorado is even better than the old one. its responsive and stiff for my style of riding. the product quality is by far the best i have seen in recent forks. can i justify the the 3900 cdn for versus a 2010 boxxer wc for 1000 cdn less....probably not. but i had to have one. if you trash and plow through everything and neglect your ride...this fork may not be the one for you. it needs to be taken care of. for me it rides like a dream...but i do want a 2010 boxxer wc to see the difference. however, compared to my hold 2009 boxxer wc...it is way better fork regarding rebound and compression damping.

Does it follow the current trend of controlling the compression with the damping and not the spring rate? Do the tweaks in the damping and the air spring make it feel less linear than the old Dorados?

a hair over 43lbs. not bad for absolutely no consideration going into weight :p

and yeah i know my guide needs to be rotated a bit and the cables are a mess.

This are my two rides for 2009 (I tried to sell the Judge but people want it for "free", so I'm keeping it :weee:)

Cannondale Judge at ~38lbs


Trek Session 88 at 36.3lbs. Changes to come: CCDB with new tune & Obtainium ti sping :D

Yikes, talk about pike porn. There are a ton of nice rigs on this thread but the last two pages alone are making me feel all tingly inside. The white demo is probably the nicest demo i have ever seen and the M6 is super hot and so is that Morewood. Damn, I gotta go rub one out real quick, be back in a few. :D:thumb:

Something between 40 and 41 lbs (18 and 18,5 kg). Weighted in a bathroom scale so not much of accuracy.



The funny thing is that I've never cared about weight. I've just wanted it done as soon as I could so I threw in some cheap parts like the seat post.

Here is my new bike at 38lbs without any light stuff.





I have just been riding and digging so I haven't had anytime to clean and put on some light parts. I will give her some love and get some better shots up later.

Yeah, I forgot about that. I have an RC4 that I change back and forth with the DHX air depending on the track. The DHX air is a new tune I am trying out. It is very firm but doesn't spike.

I meant that I didn't put on any of the light stuff on the bike that I already have.

You are prejudiced. DHX air out of the box is really crappy (and pretty avreage after mojo tune) but you can adjust it better to your weight and if you have a possibility to tune it properly it should be very good.
Also evolver and roco air work quite nice.

I forgot to mention that I ride for Suspension Center and the air shock is heavily tuned. I have been testing different versions for a couple years and am quite happy with the results. It feels nothing like what you think it does. I can tune the progression of the springrate (can't do that on a coil shock) and the LSC to enable me to run very little HSC and get the bike running over very rough stuff very fast. It sounds strange but it works very well.

The linkage was designed in conjunction with Fox and then the shocks were custom tuned for the bike. You should see how well the RP23 Boostvalve shock works.

I also do a bit of testing for Fox and the new air shock stuff is very capable of charging. I know people on here don't approve of air shocks and I don't like stock air shocks either but if you have the possibility of running heavily tuned proto air shocks and it works, would you not run it?

I will take a pic of the bike with an RC4 and a Ti spring as well.:thumb:
