Most unfortunate. I got to ride it a couple years ago and it was a lot of fun! No lines and lots of trails to choose from. They even had a national race scheduled there last year that got cancelled. There was potential for so much more there, too. I would have to guess the location is what ultimately led to their downfall...it is in the middle of nowhere, really.

Bankrupt.

McCall isn't exactly "the middle of nowhere." It's a well-established resort destination with lot's of jet-setty, movie-star folks and their multi-million-dollar vacation homes camped there. I think the investors/developers just had more ambitious plans than the realities of the economy could hold. Yeah, they were already circling the drain before the big meltdown but they were an indicator of what was on the horizon at the time.

uh yeah, 2 hours north of Boise isn't the middle of nowhere...

They went bankrupt because the owner's mouth was too big for his stomach. Pierre (first owner) built the resort up before having anywhere for people to stay. By the time he actually got houses and condo's in, they were already too far behind on payments.
BUT, Tamarack will re-open. I know someone who is behind the scenes on getting it back up and going, and word is someone big is supposed to buy it. Someone with money and experience in this field already. Who that is, I don't have a clue.
