DH Race at Mt. Shasta ??

The guy who was running safety for the 1st Northstar race is connected to this somehow, was promoting it that day. I was half way debating going up just to "support the scene" but the reality is that I'm broke and I'm kinda over the long drives to races these days.

Man I miss having a sugar momma.

I spoke to some kid on the building crew or something at spring thaw. He was handing out little flyer things. He said the course is pretty tech and fast... The practice day lift ticket isnt included into the entry fee, which kinda sucks. Im pretty sure Ill be going, as Im only 2 ish hours away.

More DH trails in Cali? YES!!

Now lets here how they are.

Shasta has sharp lava rock surrounded by lot and lots of 'moon dust'. Very loose conditions overall.
I was told if this event goes well there will be another race later in the year as well. If these events show promise the new owners will consider opening the resort to bikes in the summer again.
Forest from N* went to work there four or five years ago and built a number of trails. Unfortunately the resort canned the summer biking program before the trail saw much use.
It would be cool if this all works out, more lift served riding in NorCal is a good thing.
By all means go and support the event if you have any interest, I always had a great time there back in the day.

Unfortunate that it falls on the weekend of National Champs.

Here's the video of the course that's on the shasta site. Not sure if I'll make it up there or not though.

Yeah well some other A*&HOLE is busy trying to make Richard's trail into a rideable Northshore run down here. I would like to make that race next year for sure at least once!

I'm hoping to go. I used to go there a lot when they were open. Steep and rough on the expert course at the time... That was 6 years ago now. Sheesh.

Maybe they shave seconds off your time for hitting slow ass skinnys...

It's that newfangled freeriding crap again! It's getting into all our trails.

im like 50 minutes from there. im excited about this.

What a sick race course!!!! Can't wait to see the Red Bull photos from the road gap.

They just need to figure out the chairlift.
