Works really well.

It burns your skin, and open wounds don't help matters. But, soap and water take care of the problem.

Latex gloves don't stop it from burning your skin either.

I usually wear nitrile gloves when handling that stuff. The nitrile seems to last longer than the regular latex when handling harsher than normal chemicals.

So... where can one acquire aircraft grade paint stripper??? Useful on so many levels...
5 gal usually run about 120-400 bucks depending on where you buy from. it really doesnt make much sense to spend the money on this amount since it will be wasted in the long run. most people get the aerosol cans at auto parts stores and they work fine for frames but require a few hours of scrubbing.

if you can afford it, or plan on doing alot of paint stripping, buy a 55 gal drum of stripper (800-900$) and weld your own frame sized container, then transfer the stripper.

put a piece of wire mesh on a couple bricks on the bottom to give the paint a spot to settle.

I havent purchased any for quite some time but here is a link to the same stuff I use

I will typically charge guys a few bucks (20-30) to let the frame sit in the tank overnight.

It really comes in usefull when you need to clean parts like cassettes, chains, auto parts, or you want to take the paint of parts and polish them. I will dip the part in the tank with a wire and hang it off the top of the tank. by morning it is spotless.

I havent used a solvent tank in years and no pump to replace or scrubbing needed.

that sh!t is so toxic to the environment:rant:
I always thought that since it says "Aircraft Remover" that it would actually benefit the environment.

I don't possess a single hippie gene (ok - maybe one, I stopped printing sales tickets for the shop and store it all electronically) so I never really thought about what it did for our world.

chances are it's carcinogenic, i'd be super careful.
So are cigarettes. I still smoke 'em.:boss: Plus, all the other things I put in my body are worse than inhaling a little paint stripper.:Alcoholic:

The local auto parts store had aerosol cans and the jug. I bought the jug, it was $9.99. Used a paint brush to apply it. Took 2 coats to get 99% of the paint off. The paint around the headtube, BB area is stubborn.

A 67 gallon drum of this stuff would be a lot of fun.

the point is not only that it is carcinogenic; we experience carcinogens on a daily basis in our everyday lives. it's the concentration and toxicity of it, which is most likely vastly higher than other substances.

Probably why it works so well.

I have used the stuff on a few frames. If I ever get the itch to custom paint a frame again I will use it again.
