I remember when this frame came out and I thought I had to have one. Fast forward to now and the dream is true. Lots of factors made it a reality, but I have to put Eric Easterly from Competitive Cyclist on the podium for helping me out on this one... :clapping:

Here's the stats:
Large Intense SS Raw. with DHX 5.0.
Fox 36 Float RC2.
Diabolus bars with Thompson X4 50mm
Cane Creek Double XC II flush.
Hadley Hubs (red) laced to Mavic 823's.
Kenda Nevegal UST 2.35 tires.
Shimano XT cranks 170 with Gamut P30. (Thanks Juan.)
Atomlab Aircorp pedals.
XTR cassette.
Sram XO mid alloy cage (older, but better IMO).
X9 shifter.
Saint brakes.
SDG I-beam micro post with Formula FX seat.

Even with the steel spring, heavy pedals and bars, she's a cool 35 lbs. I'm VERY pleased with that weight... I have one short 10 minute ride on the bike and I'm really stoked. It's everything I wanted out of my Bottlerocket that it couldn't provide. This is my first VPP bike and I can tell it's different... The initial "lengthening" the bike does is awkward, but I only notice it in bermed turns and landings... Otherwise it's rad. This thing pedals great and the suspension actually works when you hit a bump! Can't say my Bottlerocket did that. :disgust:

Here's the finished product:

So stoked on this thing. Hopefully I can get some buddys to pull over and grab the camera for some action. ;)

Nice build but what made you go with a coil shock and not a air shock on a SS bike.
It came with the coil! ;)

I'm not sure I would've went with the air shock initially anyway. This bike isn't really "slopestyle" to me. It's more of a mini-DH bike. I did go air on the fork obviously, but I read tons of reports that made it sound better than the vanilla to my tastes. I was hoping to get some more saddle time today, but it's pretty crummy out there. Hopefully I'll have more to report soon.

... and yeah irider, this bike will probably slaughter Catwalk. If only the pilot had the lungs to turn a good time. Hopefully I can get my fitness up in the 8 weeks I have left...:nopity:

super nice build. I guess the advantages of the VPP lengthening the wheel base is so that the turn becomes tighter so you can pump through it better.

I LOVE THIS BIKE!!!

I feel like all doubts I had are erased after just two rides... I am so stoked on every part of it. Pedals great, jumps predictably, and does it turn? Yes. It turns very well. My favorite thing is to rail a turn as fast as I can and this thing delivers... The tires are the only thing holding me back from dragging my bars on the ground.

More reports and hopefully pics to come!

Sweet build. I love that raw finish. Intene has some of the best looking finishes ever. Good luck with it and enjoy.

Still loving this bike. I upgraded to a ti spring, but had a bit of rubbing... It honestly didn't phase me too much as I want a different rear shock when funds allow, but it still sucks I can't really sell it now.

So far I'm riding all the trails I've mobbed on my DH bike and I'm loving it. There's only a couple places I wouldn't feel comfortable riding this thing over the big bike... It's light, pedals awesome, handles and jumps great... Some of our really fast trails are still covered in snow, Only the really, REALLY gnar rocky trails make me slow down.

Here's a couple shots. I have a small video clip in the works... (No editing software currently.)

Thread resurrection time. Doing a little research on the SS and came across this thread. Uncle Cliffy--how 'bout an update? Still stoked on how the SS is performing? Missing your DH rig? Fill us in. Thanks man.

I'll weigh in. My build is almost identical to Cliffy's, but I'm running a Lyric 2-step.
Love the bike. It would be what I'd pick if I could only have one bike. With a 2nd set of wheels, it really is a do-it-all. The only time I ride the full-on DH rig is for racing and Whistler.
It climbs incredibly well for it's weight, even without a lockout rear shock.
Only downside is hitting you pedals, but I'll take that. It corners and jumps soooo nice.

Oh yeah... The bike is good.

I don't have any new pics to post unfortunately, but I'm still diggin it. I will say that there's only one trail in my area where I prefer my DH sled over this thing. It's too fun... You want to rip that berm? It's ripped. When I say "jump!" It jumps...

New additions are some Minion DHF's front and rear that bumped the weight up to 36 even, but I feel more secure on them than the Nevegals. I did the Ashland Super D on this bike with some Tioga Yellow Kirins and the bike was 34.4 lbs! I didn't post a very good result, but it shreded the DH sections. (I'm a lazy downhiller and the course has a brutal climb/pedal section...) I've also added some Chromag Fubar OSX's to the bike. They're pretty wide for a bike like this... Currently they're just under 29.5, but I'm pretty sure they're getting chopped to 29 even...

I'm still wanting to throw a CCDB on it, but I just bought an XC bike to help my fitness... Funds are short...

I'm still confused as to why Intense isn't producing this frame currently. It's one of the most fun/versatile bikes I've owned. Get one while you can!

Not too worried about climbing, although the fact that I could run a full length seat post for pedaling around the Shore is a big selling factor. This bike would replace my Demo so I'm trying to make sure it's not going to leave me wanting too much more in gnarly situations.

I have been peppering every MTB board w/ questions about this bike and I'm still tossed up. At this point I think I'm willing to give up a bit of plowability for some flickability.

Thanks for the info fellas...
