Has anyone ever had one? How long were you out? I had a crash at Snowshoe on July 3rd, partial tear of the rotator cuff and torn labrum. Just looking to see how long I'm out, Dr. told me 3 to 6 months, I don't like the 6 months part....

I tore my labrum and my rotator cuff. I was out for 8-10 weeks from my memory. But it wasn't the right way to do it.

All cases are going to be different, so I can't say that there is a set date on when you will be back 100%. I'm not a doctor. But what I can tell you is this. Take all of his advice, take it easy for as long as you can (as hard as it is to do sometimes) and go through the right physical therapy/recovery exercises. I rushed the comeback to riding and I have been a victim of it ever since, my shoulder is not and will not be the same because of it. I would hate to see someone else do the same thing.

So rest, relax and follow the instructions to full recovery that you are given. You will be a much happier helthier person in the end if you do.

You going under the knife? If OrthoNeuro is covered by your insurance, go there for a second opinion. Ask for Dr. Cannone. Specializes in sportsmed. Whipass doc.

I had a tear from 2 o'clock to 6 o'clock, and would hurt when I'd push it too hard. Basically any motion similar to a push up would hurt. I DH'd with it for a year, year and a half, and then finally decided to go get it looked at / fixed. Doc said that I couldn't do any more damage since it was already torn, but they'd go in and clean it up and I'd be as good as new (not sure *exactly* what they did?). Surgery (arthroscopic) was perfectly fine, and the pain was gone immediately. Spent probably 2-3 months in PT and was easily stronger afterwards than I'd been before. Think I was off the bike for maybe 4-6 weeks, and the main issue was the possibly of falling and re-injuring myself. I probably wouldn't have DH'd for maybe 3-4 months, but 6 is just absurd (for my condition, your mileage may vary).

Find a good orthopedic surgeon, it's the most important doc you'll ever see. I kept mine from when I was in 4th grade up through age 25. He could fix ANYTHING.

edit: missed the rotator cuff bit the first time around. could be a bit more serious?

Just got my 2nd shoulder fixed for this on Friday last week. My labrum was torn off on both shoulders as well as the capsule needing to be tightened all around.

After the surgery and PT I was back and racing bikes again in just under 4 months. Hoping to have the same results this time around.
