We have to spread the love around. Today i was by myself and i rode some trails that not many people ride. (if any)

Stigmata. if you havent heard this is the gigantic rock face of death, need braking skill and you should be good at the rocks because youll have to ride BMW to get to it.

Deceit. Like ripper? this is its double, conveniently located above ripper to give you the 10 minute run that is not normally possible at diablo.

Utah. This is another great trail. (across to the left from asylum) its got 2 real nice rock gardens and will spit you into a 3 foot drop to the fireroad, or take you to the bottom of asylulm. I love the trail and its a favorite of mine, it just seems like nobody else rides it.

Fat Lip. Chances are you wont find the particular chute, (unless you go bushwacking) but its a real fun tech chute thatl pop you out onto twist.

Schorcher. It has 2 small drops (to flat) and a few little ladder drops. If you take dirt merchant, you will end up here. not many people ride it but its certainly a changeup for your run.

Test of Metal. Its right off domboo, all about bike control. I havent seen anybody ride it recently and its a great way to practice braking control (especially when its wet)

I ride these trails all the time and it seems like im one of a few people, The trails are clear, but nobody rides them and they are starting to grow in. Spread the love from the dominion to apline runs and hit up these trails, if for nothing else your helping them stay alive and keepin the critters off them. It will also help trail crew if you care about that.

I like this thread. I've ridden about half of those trails, I guess. I LOVE deceit. Is it really similar to ripper? Never ridden ripper because I've heard it's way gnarly and I'm still sort of a beginner, but if it's similar in difficulty to deceit then I'll definitely give it a go.

I've taken a look at stigmata. Definitely still above my pay grade.

Rode Utah once. It was pretty fun but I got freaked out by that one steep part before the left turn, so I never rode it again.

I used to take Fat Lip whenever I rode twist, but I didn't think it was that much fun. Maybe I'll give it another shot when I start riding at Diablo again later this summer. Is the sign still there?

I usually see the sign for scorcher too late to branch off from dirt merchant onto it.

I've heard test of metal is really hard so I'm saving that trail for when my skills increase as well.

If you can ride deceit, you can ride ripper. I would ride it with someone that knows a good line through the steep part. The sign for Fat Lip is still there. I think that of all the double black trails Test of Metal is one of the easier ones. If it's wet, the rock slab near the top can get slick, but after that it's not too bad. These are some awesome trails dude just go out and rip 'em.

Test of Metal I've ridden a few times.

The few times I've ridden asylum this year there was no one else there. The berms on it are still minty fresh.

Haven't hit Utah yet, tho I know exactly where it is. Haven't been quite on my A-game yet this year, so I don't wanna risk it. The last time I rode Utah I almost knocked myself out.

I don't think many people have ridden Stalker this year, there's still a tree down on it. It merges in with the runout from the big a$$ rock face on stigmata.

So far I've had a 50% success rate with the rock garden at the beginning of asylum. Now I know the best line is the one off to the left. But yeah, every time I've been over there, it's a ghost town (at least last season).

Can't wait to heal up and try out ripper and ToM.

Ahhhhh, BMW to Stigmata. CLinder once told me (after his first time down BMW to Stigmata) that if I wanted to be a faster all-around racer/rider I should practice getting faster on that trail. I like the "easy way down" BMW when in cuts to the left and gets bermed. So I took his advice and would ride it whenever I found someone else to go with me for saftey's sake. I don't know if I ever got faster but after I broke my ribs doing a superman over the rocks at the bottom of the wooden brige I became much more confident. Getting back on the bike after a major or minor injury is a personal victory for all who do. You know that feeling right before you are about to drop in to something a little over your head and you pull it off??? I live for that. I bet most of you monkeys do too. Spread the love. Group up and ride the gnar. The first and only time I ever rode Ripper clean was with a group of six. I won't go it alone. Share the stoke!

Just to the right of the tree - one block of doom that is actually a pussycat -- the asylum rock garden is a cicnh once u know the line.

Try heading back by Careless Whisper. I hung out back there for a break and didnt hear or see anyone the whole time; then we chucked the RTN and boogied on out.

And something about utah likes to kick my ass -- I overlook something and it owns me. Bizarre that way, because otherwise I dont find it too interesting or difficult. Maybe thats why it hates me!

Phil and I rode Stalker like 9 times yesterday and there was no tree down. Did this happen after like 3pm?

That line to the left is sketchy man. Every time I follow the pack of little diablo rippers the line is pretty much straight down the middle then a bit right of the tree. Just stay way back and roll right over that huge block rock.

Yeah that's the line I'm talking about. I've hit that rock garden twice, and both times i was too far to the right, once i cleared it (just barely) and once I had an epic OTB moment, luckily landing on just flat rock.

Careless Whisper, Retreat, Monarch, Legion, all tend to be completely uninhabited. My buddy and I tried riding Legion (the section to the right after Tempest) back in May and there were several downed trees. It's a big trail network though, so I guess the trailcrew hadn't had a chance to get back there yet. I'm sure it's clear now. Those are all fun little rocky, but easy trails though.

I've only been on Utah one time, and I watched a very small lady roll what looked like a tough section going super slowly. You would think that would've inspired some confidence in me, but it totally didn't for some reason.

That's basically in a nutshell why I enjoy this so much. Totally different feeling from just setting a personal best for time on an XC or road ride. I'm hoping to get the chance for one of those personal victories in August. Can't wait to ride again, it's killing me. Been out two months so far  :banghead: .

That line to the right is the obvious line, and you have to make kinda of a weird little turn (IIRC) out of it. If you go to the left its a tougher line but you carry more speed out of it for the jump that's down the trail.

ya asylum's fun...the line straight down the middle is no doubt the best one..and I still have enough speed to clear that small step up...

dirt merchant, go down the rock pile and as you ride just keep looking right. it doesnt have the most visible entrance, but its a great trail and has a few drops to flat and a few little ladders that are small. I will be there this saturday on a 303 if you need any help

wait wait WAIT....are you telling me that there's other trails at Diablo besides Tempest, Dominion and Greenhorn? I mean I've seen signs at what appears to be a trail head but never see anyone on em so I just figured they must have been from the pre-Diablo era...man what a little exploration can lead to!

I rode DM like three times a few weeks ago and kept getting on Scorcher by accident. Couldn't seem to stay on DM for the life of me. Scorcher was fun but the first time I hit that first ladder I wasn't expecting there to be a drop to a crossed log/rock thingy and I went otb. It was fun overall.....but i think i would've preferred to stay on DM.
