hey guys

at last...
for the first time in over 9 years i will go on a "real longer then a weekend" vacation...

the idea is to spend some time in Vancouver as a "general" tourist and then a week or so in whistler to ride...

do you think thats a good plan or is september to late in the year?
will i need the cold/wet weather clothes or not?

i am just looking for some general input

thanks :)

You might use a rain jacket/pants once or twice if it's in the latter half of the month...but that's usually the perfect time to go. Not too hot, and most of the groms are back in school.
Yep. I go every year, and for a while we were doing it earlier in the summer, only to get rain 3-4 days out of the week. I've gone mid-September more recently and the weather has been friggin' ideal. Last year was absolutely stellar.

'Summer' here in the pacific northwest is typically From the begining of August through later September. Should be great....I much prefer a few sprinkles and good traction to 30*C, braking bumps, and dust.

Rode there the end of September last year before I moved back to Nevada. Best time of the year to ride in my opinion. Got rained out the fifth day, but we were tired, had a couple busted up riders, and it gave us a chance to play drinking games with Canadian TV and to go hit on the asian tourist girls.

Go for it. It's less busy than in the summer, it's cooler during the day, mornings are crisp, and the alpine is beautiful as it changes color in the late fall. Trails usaully benefit from some late-season repair and the dew at night makes for some tacky yet fast conditions

Thinking about heading over from the Uk for a weeks riding. Would i be better booking a package thru a holiday company like ticket2ride or just do my own thing (book hotel, buy bike park tickets etc)? Chances are i would be going solo

Just got back myself from an amazing week in Whistler. Look on VRBO.com for some good deals on condos. We found a place for a little over $100 Can a night that could easily sleep four. Pinnacle Hotel also was great.
