And meanwhile the tube industry....keeps making them tubes. I,d be willing to bet that niether one is supier to the other. But only that, you choose which tube best suits your own needs. For instance, a deep rim may have to use a presta based on the leangth of the stem. While the rest of us un-worthy wheel-sets need the tried and true schrader valve. My point of course" ride until ya get a flat, fix it w/ what ya need.

They keep making shredeyors because they are confused. Presta will always be a better choice than shreeadors. It doesn't depend on anything like conditions, rim, or preference, they are just better.

There's a difference between Schrader and Shredder valved tubes. Peaty rocks Shredder tubes, made by maxxis...they are double butted Presta at the valve/tube interface, and have a little brass fitting on the end for quick inflation, known to pro mechanics as the "PVA." It's a "race tune" seal and valve for all the pro dudes...look for the "I think i'm awesomely fast if i've got a race tune" PVA next year...

its been proven that a rim drilled for shreader has added flex and adds to your race time. now you multiply that by 2 wheels. its an outrageous amount of time to lose on a race run.
Requoted for funsies.

Okay, ignoring how old and off-track this thread is...

Seriously, why does anyone use Presta on a mountainbike.
Schrader seems so much easier to use.
Easier to fill from a home compressor or at a gas station.
Easier to gauge pressure.
High-end schrader tubes still have the treads to the base and the lock-nut.
Removable valve cores make injecting tubeless sealant a piece of cake.

On the other hand...
Presta needs a stupid adapter to inflate from a compressor.
Standard pressure gauge often won't work with the same adapter, so you have to remove it and use a presta compatible gauge.
The little nut on the end of the stem often becomes bent.

Basically, for the pressures we are using, the ONLY advantage I can see is the smaller rim hole.

Why would you like presta? I use Schrader on all my bikes, even my commuter.

This thread should be called "Schrader rocks!!!"

To paraphrase the West Side's Mr. Mott, "NO, I don't have any presta tubes. WHY? cause I only run FREEDOM VALVES". Keith FTW...

I read in a science'y magazine and then saw it confirmed on a science'y news program that starting on Monday, 4-11-11 at 11:11 am, no more pumps or pressure gauges are going to be produced that work with SChraeidIEr valves. If you have old stock, hang onto it but you are also retarded for having it and hanging on to said outdated/inferior product so it is a lose lose proposition for you anyways. Have fun wrecking all the time chumps.

gawshk Presta is foolish, what a silly whinegasm.

Weaker rims... if I ever bust a rim at the valve Ill poop in a basket and mail it to the moon.

i have a rim at the shop that failed at the valve. ill take a pic tomorrow
And that could never happen to a presta drilled rim, because it's atomic and bionic and poodles piss-harden them before they ship, and they will not do this for a schraeder because of genetic pre-disposition.

Rosebud.

I said when it happens to me, which it never will, because I am awesome and I also have insurance for that anyway. Plus I will never notice because my carbon fiber frame will explode first, killing everyone in a 7 mile radius.
