I've been going through some rough sh*t lately, so my aplogies for my first post in a while turns out to be kinda SPAM-ish. BUT IT"S IMPORTANT!

With the UCI changing the deadline for events to be UCI Inscripted to JULY 3 (yes, that's about a week away), event promoters, resorts, etc need to get their ass in gear & get their event INSCRIPTED ASAP if they want to offer UCI points for 2010!

After speaking with USA Cycling about it, we "think" they'll be flexible.... but i wouldn't hold my breath!

Why should you care? cause if any pro wants to acquire 20 points to race World Cups next year, they need to be able to attend events that have UCI points.

There are a few promoters/events "thinking" about it & talking to USAC... but last i heard, no one has officially signed up yet. SO CONTACT YOUR LOCAL PROMOTER!

Info below...

-----------------------------

Just days left until the UCI Inscription period ends for 2010!

The 2009 season has kicked-off to a great start for the Pro Gravity Tour (Pro GRT). However WE STILL NEED YOUR HELP! One of our main goals is to raise the bar of American riders at the World Cup level. However, without events offering UCI points, riders are limited on possibilities to participate at the World Cups. Many of you have seen increases in your rider numbers, which is fantastic news (especially considering the economic news these days!). The strong support of organizers and sponsors have made this possible, along with a renewed interest in the sport of mountain bike racing. With this continued growth of support & attendance, American racing is back on the rise!

If you’re interested in offering UCI points at your MTB race next season, you MUST to register before the deadline listed below! CONTACT USA CYCLING NOW!
Although there are many criteria to be part of the 2010 Pro GRT, hosting a UCI inscripted event puts you a step ahead! With the 2010 World Cup schedule officially announced (calendar listed below), and with Windham, New York hosting the finals, we’ll be making a big push to attract international riders next season. These riders, along with their teams, & sponsors will benefit your event tremendously with the added media exposure, spectators, race entries & much more!

The UCI deadline for 2010 inscription is July 3, 2009 (as indicated on the event information forms). The inscriptions are submitted to UCI through the National Federations, so the completed forms need to be submitted to USA Cycling AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! CONTACT USA CYCLING NOW!

Please feel free to contact Kelli Lusk (USA Cycling) or myself should you have any questions.

I was wondering what events to shoot for next season (or what's left of this one) to qualify to compete in the 2010 UCI World Cup. I just want the chance to ride Windham and/or Mont St. Anne and have had a hard time finding the answer on UCI's website. Do any of the "Gravity East" races contribute to your points? If so, how many points for what place? Thanks for all the help. Even a point in the right direction would be much appreciated.

Windham is the last remaining event of the Pro GRT (& i think the last in the states) to offer UCI points for 2009. I believe it's category 1, so it'll go pretty deep.

After talkin to USAC this past weekend in Mont Sainte Anne, there is only one resort to apply for UCI inscription for 2010. However National Champs will also offer points.

if you're pro, you do not need points to race in the Pro GRT (although i'd like to see a points system created to sort out the semi-slow racers), but YOU DO need points to race in the World Cups (unless you petition to ride for your country - which is an event by event basis)

Points only last ONE YEAR from when you receive them (i believe), so make sure you keep track of it all if you attain points!

I see the points listings on the UCI site, but what events can I hope to enter (in the US) to gain points? Is it even feasible to gain points in the same season that I hope to race a World Cup? A list of events, their points class, and dates is really all I need. Anyone out there know what events are left in 2009 and which will be available in 2010? Thanks guys!

as i mentioned earlier.. in the US, the only available event left to attain UCI points in 2009 is the Pro GRT in WINDHAM, NEW YORK (August 15-16)

as for 2010, there is nothing scheduled as of yet. there is tentatively one event on the east coast who is looking to inscript for UCI points... & i did hear of one event here in california... but haven't heard any details as of yet. regardless if they do or not, no dates have been confirmed

Thanks for all the help. I guess I just couldn't believe my eyes that there was only one chance to qualify in the US. Maybe I'll just settle on watching from the sidelines if I can't afford to travel in order to qualify.

I sure hope this thread has inspired some of the event promoters out there! The usa needs more races out there that offer uci points! other countries have plenty, so why not USA. We definately are gaining the talent now-a-days with guys like mitch in 4x and gwin in DH. Dylan has been A HUGE help to that gravity racing this year people and he's now asking for a little in return! So talk to your local promoters to at least try to host a UCI point counting race. Just think if someone like MITCH ROPELATO in 4x at Sol Vista had a bad run and didnt get the points needed because of a lack of UCI point counted race, that means he would not have been at the Bromont World Cup to kick butt and place 2nd at only a junior in the sport!

Thanks for everything Dylan!!!!

Snowmass this weekend is also UCI inscribed (DH & 4X).

Grumblings are that 2010 you will see a few less US-based UCI events. I hope this is wrong, but I also understand why.
