The 4x/DS bike thread started by, IH8Rice, got me wondering why there wasn't a thread on bike set ups and pictures of your 4X/DS bike.
Post up pictures, specs, weights(if that's your thing) and a little write up, if you like.

I'll start with mine.

Frame: Banshee Rampant (S)
Bottom Bracket: Shimano SLX
Brake Set: Avid BB7/SD7
Cassette: Shimano Dura Ace 12-23T
Crank: Shimano SLX
Chain: KMC X9 SL
Chain Ring: E13 Guide Ring 34T
Fork: Rockshox Pike 426
Grips: Lizard Skins Moab
Handlebar: Nuke Proof Warhead
Headset: Cane Creek S3
Hubs: Hope Pro II 20mm/10mm Bolt on
Pedals: Deity Decoy
Rear Derailleur: SRAM X9
Rear Shock: Fox RP2
Rims: Spank Subrosa
Saddle: Charge Spoon
Seat Post: Woodman Post SL
Shifters: SRAM X9
Spokes: DT Swiss Competition
Stem: Thomson X4
Tyres: Geax Booze Light
Extras: E13 SRS+, Ti caliper, adapter, rotor, stem and crank pinch bolts.

Bike supposedly weighs in at 13.8kg, as pictured. I wasn't around when the LBS weighed the bike. Very fun bike that seems to accelerate a little on landing a jump, nimble and easy to throw around. It pedals really well, even when I run more sag(25%) than the recommended(10-15%) amount.

So, there's mine. Add yours up and maybe we'll get a little database going, on who's running what and what there is available out there.

*I'm not too sure if this is the right forum for this thread. If it's not, I apologise in advance.

Yeti DJ long FTW! I love this bike! It's pretty new so I haven't gotten to race it yet but I'm really looking forward to it.

My only complaint is that the tubing dings silly easy. Put a nice little dent in the down tube on a minor spill.

Too lazy to post full specs. Pretty standard stuff:

X-9 Shifting
Pike
Handbuilt DT Wheels
Elixer's
LG-1
etc

Bit of DS action

Funny thing is the vast majority of shots I have of this bike its in trailbike trim out in the woods somewhere. It sees a lot more time on burly xc trails than slalom tracks.

I've been riding our (Spooky's) new Bandwagon frame for the last 2 weeks.

It's our possible dip into affordable asian-built slalom bikes... With totally freaking dialed geo. We made 11 of the longer size (which are all gone to team riders/people who work here/friends), and 4 of the shorter size.

We'll probably end up doing them as a real bike that we sell for $360 for the frame and $1500 for a complete pro-raceable bike over the winter...

So stoked to be back on a slalom bike...

how do you guys like your X9SL chains?
I actually snapped mine the other day (this is on my DH bike), had only had it for 4 months or so. Still, I've abused it quite a bit, and the one I had before lasted longer. I'd buy again.

Anyway, bikes...

Excuse the poor-quality pics, snapped with my iPhone on a ride the other day. I've got rid of the Astrix Union (too harsh for my liking) and replaced the frame with some steel. I love the raw-welds look :)

Apart from some small things like pedals and post the build is the same as on the previous bike, can't be bothered to write anything about it, old thread here: http://www.ridemonkey.com/forums/showthread.php?t=181167

Never done a 4x or DS race to be fair, and I know gears might help, but I want to, and I will at some point, with it set-up like this.

Is just a fun cheap-ish bike, not silly light or anything, just run-of-the-mill parts.

Oh I do need to get some 760 bars on it to match my DH though, these 685s feel weedy now I've switched! lol :)

I guess I would consider this a slalom bike. More like my do everything bike. I have it more set up for dirt jumping now because that is basically all I do with it these days.

Finally!

Since that picture was taken, I replaced the saddle with a Selle SLR. I also just yesterday cracked the fork (two years of high-level street riding will do that), so changes to come! Beyond that, I'm waiting on the new Ashima PanCake brake to replace my beloved BB7 set-up, and waiting for the new Pro-Taper bar to come out for some added width. The wheels are extremely porky but she's under 12kg so who cares!

Specs:
Frame: 2009 Specialized P3 (warranty #2)
Fork: 2008 Rockshox Pike 426 Air U-Turn, shaved and lowered to 80-110mm
Headset: Chris King NoThreadSet 1.125", red, flipped
Stem: Black Market Underboss, polished (flipped)
Handlebar: Answer Pro-Taper, ti Satin, 1" x 26"
Grips: ODI Rogue, red ano lockrings
Front wheel: Sun S-Type laced to Novatec 20mm, MEC 26x1.1" tube, Kenda Small Block 8 1.95" Kevlar folding tire
Cranks: Primo Powerbite
Pedals: Blackspire Maggy, black
Sprocket: Profile Imperial, 33t, polished
Chainguide: E13 LG-1
Chain: KMC X9SL Ti-N
Rear wheel: Hope Pro 2 Trials/SingleSpeed w/ steel female axle bolts, 32 Atomlab red spokes, Mavic 729 rim, MEC 26x1" tube, Kenda Small Block 8 1.95" Kevlar folding tire
Cassette: Shimano HG80 Saint/SLX cassette, reduced to 6-speed (11-18)
Brake: Avid BB7 w/ Shimano cable, Odyssey Monolever, Hope 140mm rotor, Hope ti bolts
Post: 2009 Specialized
Seat: Selle Italia SLR
Derailleur: SRAM X.0 short cage, E13 limit screws.
Shifter: SRAM X.9

The Spooky looks like absolute sickness (well most everything that comes out from that company is killer *lusting for the cx bike...*)

Anyway here is mine. Been posted on here before. Morewood Ndiza 2008. Really a great bike, I ride it everywhere, but it really comes into its own on berm/jump type of trails. Saint cranks are the bomb. Minute fork is ok, really light; 1st Manitou I have that doesn't give me trouble. (will try to get better pics)

Specs:

- Ndiza St Frame large 2008
- Sun Ringlé Charger Wheelset
- X9 Shifter and rear D
- Answer Pro Taper Carbon
- Lx Hydro Brakes (really satisfied for the price I paid)
- Saint crankset
- e-13 LG-1
- Sram DH cassette
- Ruffian lock-ons
- I-Fly seat and I-Beam post
- Marzo Rocco R rear shock
- Tires: Maxxis High Roller Semi-Slick rear and Maxxis Bling Bling Lopes up front
- And the grande finale: Easton Flatboy Pedals (I know there is a lot of good offerings in the flat pedal department nowadays, but, since I'm pretty old school, I still prefer the Flatboys for the nice wide platform and grippy studs)

so do you guys think a longer TT frame is better for 4X? longer TT meaning more room to pedal and more stable at speed?

Mickey, what's the spooky full build list going to be for a complete?
I am working on the specs right now for a $1800 complete bike kit that would be pro-raceable out of the box. Should be full SLX, e.13 ls-1, Xfusion velvet R, maxxis rubber and PRODUCT brand cockpit and wheels (Product is a component and frame line I have been working on for the last year or so... Keeping 25.4 bars and no-nonsense parts and frames made in asia as a separate venture from what we build here in Western MA...)

The current idea is to offer 5 different size slalom frames (all with varying bb heights, fork lengths, HA's, cs lengths, etc...) mix and match to get exactly what suits ya, and then once you figure it out, lay down $900 for a built-to order Metalhead built here in Easthampton.

I used this bike for DJs, MTN-X courses but mostly trails. It's a blast on fast flowy trails like you find in Fruita and Durango, CO. Just about 28 lbs.

Heres my confused XC bike that I take to the DS course every now and again. Great bike, I almost like it more than my Tazer, the cockpit is less cramped but the wheelbase is too long and its too tall for a true 4x/Ds bike, its still fun though and it rips XC like nobodys business. Wanna get some lighter wheels for it but in all honesty I kinda like the look of the Dee-Max's with the blue paint.
