Every year just before NE Monkeyfest...

...my drivetrain goes to hell. On a summat muddy ride yesterday, I started getting intermittent chainsuck and machine-gun sounds - looked at the middle ring today and it's missing at least one tooth and one of the remaining ones is bent sideways. At least it got me out of the woods.

To all the local LBSs: No, I don'twant a Raceface or other substitute, I want a stock Shimano LX, kthxbai.[/rant]

Thanks for the advice. Now...I don't have that cheap sh*t laying around, but I have a Deore or an XT to offer you. :D

btw - a Blackspire ring would prevent you from needing that same ring this time next year. :think:

Any monkeys need any spare parts to get their funcycles functioning for Monkeyfest that I could bring up with me? My basement is it's own little LBS without d-bag employees like Loco and snobby too-smart-for-my-own-good customers like Golgia.

Well, on second thought, no they didn't. They gave me a Deore, not a Deore LX, ring, which doesn't fit. Grrr. :panic:

Further examination revealed that the BB is shot, which is not unexpected. :rolleyes:

So... on the shelf I have a new XT crankset that Hilarie gave me for my birthday last year. :thumb:

I'm going to cross my fingers and ask the LBS to chase and face the frame and install the crankset, which I bought there. The cross my fingers part is hoping that they don't fvck up anything in the process of installation. Plus, I hope that they manage to fit me in the schedule so I can still head to M'fest Friday.
