with the voices in my head
my family and i are visiting my sister the week of 7/3/09, she lives at the paramount in the city. i live in upstate ny and ride ride at least 3 days a week, but on that particular week i get one day to ride:rant:, and i want to enjoy some of the west coast finest trails.
i am looking for a good local bike shop who rents bikes (my cross country is a 6" freeride bike) and the location of good riding, so any info would great:happydance:

Tamarancho in Fairfax
China Camp in Marin

Do loops, forward-reverse, etc. It'll keep you busy.

What about the trails near Morgan Hill/San Martin. I know COE is massive and hopefully has maps so I don't get lost. Harvey Bear isn't too large to get lost and never find your way back. Anything around San Jose Campbell Saratoga trail that could be fun.....thought there was a place further up 85 or 87 past 101.....cant think of where though.

Bay Area
From the South Bay I would definitely consider Soquel Demo Forest. Henry Coe is supposed to be great too but I have not been there yet. There has to be some good stuff around Morgan Hill. Specialized Bikes HQ is there. The develop and test a lot of bikes in the area from what I've read. You might want to send them an email or give them a call. Another popular place on the Peninsula is Skeggs. I've been there a couple of times and it was fun. You are going to be doing some climbing at all three of these spots.

I use to know a kid who worked for them but he won't reply to anything I ask him about trails. They use to test their bikes at some dirt jumps down the street from them. I'm pretty sure most of them head over to SC for bigger test days but most likely hit some trails at Henry Coe since its right up the road from them. I don't think they would give out too much info on their riding spots.

There is Santa Theresa Park near Specialized (some decent, rocky loops but pretty small and hot), and of course Coe.

Most of the time Santa Cruz, Demo/Nisesne, or Saratoga Gap is the destination.

I'm trying to figure out how I can get from Morgan Hill to Los Gatos right now. Have to find out where these trail heads are. I know Coe is right up the road from me and Harvey Bear is down the road from me.
