I'm a Kovarik fan since 2001...

But...any WC podium for him this year???!!!

No....

I think he was on his best form in 2001, 2002, 2003....with lots of WC podiums and Noba wins(when top riders was on Norba races...remember 2003, the Norba battle with Minnaar..till last round Durango)
Yup he has had flashes of the old Kovarik in the last couple of years but he still hasn't quite been at his best since about 2003

Saint Summer Photo Challenge

Six photographers (Mattias Fredriksson, Dan Barham, Yorick Caroux, Harookz, John Gibson & wildcard, Bryan Ralph) and their teams had 3 days to shoot anywhere within the park on Whistler and create a slideshow. This is the first event like this in mountain biking. The idea was taken from the Deep Winter Photo Challenge that's been going on for the last three years at whistler. Wednesday night at the fairmont, each slideshow was shown and judged.

Darcy, one of the hosts mentioned that one of the organizers was wondering if anyone would show up. The place was packed by the time the doors closed and the show started.

the judges

the hosts, Darcy Turrenne and Mike Douglas, a freeskier

The images were inspiring and the slideshows in whole full of energy (especially Mattias's which had quick sequences in black and white and paused on the main color image).

Someone had the idea of letting that crazy guy, Brett Tippie on stage for the halftime show while the judges left to pick the winners. There was a cup cake eating competition, a handstand competition (that I competed in and lost) and a dollar catching competition. The winners all got prizes like giro helmets and crankworx hats.

When the judges came back, the hosts announced the winners. Harookz, above (left) got third.

Dan Barham, second

Mattias Fredriksson, first

Congrats to all the teams! They worked non-stop those 3 days and all had amazing work to show for it.

Lopes wins Giant Slalom.
And my old lady LD gets 3rd!
She had to borrow Bryn Atkinson's little Intense slalom bike (that Jill got all dialed for Leigh to race...thanks you two!!) because her slopestyle was far from ideal. No one gives a crap about the chicks race, but man I am stoked for Leigh, shes got about 5 rides in since the last summer when we rode here...and then even danced her a$$ off at the TLD D3 party.

good times.
