If I were going to buy another shock right now it would be an Elka probably.

another vote for elka, i love it on my makulu. the adjustments can actually be felt, so you can dial it in very fast. external low speed/high speed and rebound, and the internals are custom for your bike's leverage ratio. cheaper than a fox as well for a "custom" shock.

The Roco is a damn good shock and if set up by the right people, as good as any other shock on the market. I guess I am biased though.

Then again the Roco has basically the same piston as a 5th, just with shims instead of a CVT valve so technically the 5th Avy can potentially be just as good as a Roco or any other shock..............as long as it is set up by the right people

send the 5th to avy for some loving.

Or get an elka. LSC that works and has a very nice transition into HSC, a really good rebound adjuster, and a HSC knob.

cheap option: shim the 5th yourself. Cost: ~$50 (shims, which you might be able to mooch from someone, plus new shock oil. and $50 is being generous).

Im over here now
Too many adjustments I dont care to take the time to dial in. I like simple
doesnt the 5th Element have the same adjustments at the Vivid? HS/LS, rebound, compression? or do you have the 3way 5th Element?

either way, sending that shock to Avy for $159 or $179 is your cheapest option...and a great option

Yeah Kinda, its not a true LSC/HSC adjsutment until avy does there thing, and even then, like all others itll still be a bit on the overlapping side. Even right now, I am basically using the air pressure for compression damping. Thats were it feels best. As for the price, itll actually be close to the same<gota love EP's>

But, it does look like at this time I will be sending off the fifth.

If simple is really high on your list of criteria then I say go for the Roco. It has rebound, compression, air pressure and preload. Not too much to figure out and not much you can really mess up and it feels great right out of the box.

I personally would send the 5th in for some TLC since you already have the shock but if simple is important that will have more adjustments than the others mentioned unless of course you are getting one of the other Avy shocks w/the upgraded hi/low compression. Sending the 5th in is probably also the cheapest route to go unless you are getting a Roco at cost.
