Unfortunately I was not re-elected to my spot on the Norba Board of Trustees in the most recent election. I thank everyone who voted for me and everyone who has offered me advice, support, or who have asked questions and raised concerns about bicycle racing in the US over the past three years as your representative to USAC.

Keep givin em hell guys! I'm SURE this is not the last they've heard from us as a gravity community.

That election was obviously rigged. Now USAC is going to hold death panels for all racers 50+

Sucks to hear Todd.

That sucks!

Thanks for standing up for the gravity side, although I suspect that may be why you didn’t get re-elected...something doesn’t smell right here.

I'm a bit crushed that you lost, Todd, but at the very least your legacy on the board is intact, with several other board members representing gravity racers. Rest assured the voice of gravity racers will still be heard.

One more thing- it's hard to underscore how much the rest of the NORBA board respected Todd and valued his contributions. The board thought so highly of him in fact that the board chose him to represent NORBA on the USAC Board of Directors.

Todd's contributions to the board have been invaluable, and I can only hope that next year Todd's able get elected again, because his energy and vision will be missed this year.

Thanks for encouraging me to get involved in the board, Todd. I'll do my part to keep the fire burning...

I can't believe so few people bothered to vote . . .

Sorry to hear about the bad luck, Todd. I hope this doesn't dissuade you from staying involved at the national level.

It is indeed sad that not more guys and gals came out to vote in general. Of approx 15k members, less than 4% came online to vote AT ALL! I venture to say that more people than 577 have somehow complained or commented on the state of US racing. We have no one to blame but ourselves in this case.

Will I stay involved in mountain bike racing? Yes, beyond any shadow of a doubt.

it's very disappointing indeed. i know how hard you worked & how much more needs to be done. hopefully when elections are up again, you'll once again campaign for the spot.

i'll definitely be hitting you up for input on the Pro GRT!

So after a little research I found this

"The Industry Trustee shall be registered with USA Cycling as a mountain bike industry associate."

I wonder what qualifications are needed for this?
How do you get registered?

Next time I'd like to register myself and get you guys to vote for me. But I guess Industry must mean something like a manufacturer.

Todd sure is but it sounds like th new guy just works at a shop. Is that considered "industry"?

Dylan or Todd can you shed some light on this ?

Generally, I consider the "industry" to be manufacturers, distributors, & importers involved in the original equipment or wholesale trade of bicycles, components, accessories, or clothing. But, perhaps others are a bit more lax on their definitions.

'a shop'

Witthout retailers....a sales outlet you (the manufacturer) are nothing.

I consider a shop owner 'in the industry'....who knows the customer better?

Yes, and without consumers the retailers sell nothing. A consumer under that direct interpretation would therefore also be "in the industry". It's all a cycle like that.

Like I said though, the interpretation is a bit loose.

The common definition of an industry is associated with manufacturing & sales of goods (ie. the auto industry, the defense industry, etc) vs the retail sales thereof. The popular trade publication is named "Bicycle Retailer & Industry News", thus highlighting that separation.

in·dus·try (ĭn'də-strē)
n. pl. in·dus·tries
1. Commercial production and sale of goods.
2. A specific branch of manufacture and trade: the textile industry. See Synonyms at business.
3. The sector of an economy made up of manufacturing enterprises: government regulation of industry.
4. Industrial management.
