anybody spent some considerable time on an imperial for jumping? I've got a line on a complete bike for 400...I'd be using it for commuting and dirt jumping. Worth it? Back idea/awkward fit?

there were a few great dirt jumpers on the evil team back in the day.
i also know a handful of guys who jumped imperials very well.
$400 for a complete is a good deal, go for it.

I'm waving. Can you see me now?
It depends if you are into riding trails or you are also you going to be using it for racing. I would not get that as a core trails bike. Way too long rear end to be a trails bike. But if you are going to be racing it, then go for it, long rear ends are the stable at high speedz. If you want an awesome trails bike get a black market. I heart my black market, I had it for 3 years so far.

I'm not a dirt jumper by any means, but when I had an Imp I absolutely loved takin that thing in the air. Also, if you're gonna be doin some tighter jumps, just throw the axle in the short chainstay position and you'll be fine.

For $400 I'd go for it. I had an Imperial when they first came out - besides the funny top tube configuration the geometry works really well. Like Lumagent said put the rear axle in the front or middle spot. The crazy seattube angle actually works well with a low seat - many years ago, I could get turndowns on my Imp.

Sounds good dudes...I didn't bump this thread because I thought it had sold, but it looks like it's still available. If it's in good shape, I'm in. Looks to be a rad bike, kind of a classic build, but just right for jumping, parking, and possibly commuting to work.

The only thing cooler than commuting on a dj'er is commuting and pulling a kid's trailer. :) I wonder how many other steelheads have trailer hitch mounts on 'em?
